She has a really stuffy nose, and you can hear that she is very congested. She sometimes[not always] coughs a good few times, and she sneezes like 3-4 times in a row. What is the best thing to give her?

you know those green booger suckers that the doc gives you when you leave the hospitol? that works wonders, to help them enjoy it, blow it in there face they seem to like that, then use your silly baby talk while you put it to their nose (i guess this is if you baby is young) and suck everything you can out, and to help them breath while eating a bottle (if they are) i put vapor rub on the plastic ring that the nipple sits in and make sure they dont touch it, or wash their hands off after they eat it. it works perfectly (i'm afraid to put it on my daughters chest at 5 months) and the coughing, if it gets worse you should take them to the dr. a friend of mines son at 5 months went in and it was a cold and ear infection, but turned out to go to the lungs to were they have to have a breathing treatment, they had nooo clue had no sign but regular cold like symptoms, not knowing a ear infection was just the beginning of it. good luck!

My son is six months, had the same problem. The doctor recomended making sure the humidifyer was on in his room, and to use saline in his nose and let that just run back out and wipe anything that comes out off his face. He also said suction out anything you can see and dont suction his nose unless you can see something.
I found a spray that is specifically for babies at walmart, it has a notch in the nozzel so that it doesnt go far in his nose, and it seemed to bother him at first but after a few times he was used to it and doesnt mind it really anymore. Make sure that you check the ingredients of the solution, and only get one that just has salt and water in it, some of them have other ingredients and you dont want to give your child anything medical.

i know how you feel.my daughter is now 6yrs old and she still gets sneezing bloked nose and asthma and the sore throat and the cough.yep thats right all of that but now that is at the age where she can gargle salt water and have an asthma puffer and panadol thats all i usally give unless she has an affection antibiotics.rub vicks on the bottom of there feet and put socks on,chest and back and plenty of fluids the reason why im telling all what you proberbly know is cause you end up going to the doctor and they tell you the same thing and you will waist your money on medicines unless it really helps.dont forget allergies that some thing you will have for the rest of your life you can only prevent it.hope this helped.

I put some vicks on her chest at night then a onezie then her pjs.

We put vicks, then socks on my sons feet when he is sick, this seems to help.

Humidifyer, and maybe some lemon mixed honey to sooth a sore throat. They also have a vicks for children that is not as strong as the regular vicks.

Good luck, its hard when there is nothing we can give them.

vicks makes a moist air humidifier where you put vicks liquid in...put it in her room near her crib...the vapors will fill her room and help her breathe much better...my lil one just got over the same problem....i did put a tiny lil bit of vicks vapor rub on her chest as well..just a real thin layer that i rubbed in really well...but you must be careful not to have too much so that she can not get her fingers in it..and also if she has sensitive skin i wouldnt reccommend that either...but i used it on my daughter and it helped immensely...i also used the saline solution to rinse out her nose and help with the dryness...and baby tylenol drops grape flavor for aches and to ward off fevers...hope she feels better soon...nothin sadder than ur lil one bein sick..good luck!

For congestion you might want to try Lavander tea (alusema) it loosens up the congestion. I've used it on both of my kids 3 yrs and 9 months since they were born. Just make it like you are making tea for yourself and add just a little bit of sugar to give it some flavor.

elderberry for cough and eucalyptus for congestion (rub on chest and little feet but put socks on after)
these are ALL natural products and you can get at wholefoods
these work awesome: use on both my kids 5 months and 2 1/2

Ask your doctor or pharmacist. DO NOT give a baby any cold medicine- the FDA pulled all cold medicines for children under 6 because of major side effects- some life threatening. A humidifier is good and aspirate her if she is stuffed up. Try going green with cleaning, laundry and personal care products. That has a huge impact on the health of your family. I hope your little one gets well soon!

There are only a few things I think are safe, but it is okay to call your doctor and check
- put a vaporizer in the room (this make steam instead of cold moisture) or you can sit in the bathroom with her with the shower running
- put baby Vicks on the tab of pjs. I did this because I was concerned about putting the Vicks on infant skin or her getting it on her hands as she moved. On most infant pj's there is that little tab at the top to keep the zipper down, this is what I mean.
- suction her nose several times a day follow with a saline solution made for children. It is likely that she will scream and it will be awful, but it will help clear up the congestion.
- if she seems to be in pain you might want to give her infant tylenol, but defiantly check with your doctor before you give her medications!

Unfortunately it is recommended that we don't give babies anything for a cold. The only thing I can think of is to use a humididfier or put babyrub on a washcloth and put it on her chest.

Hope this helps.
