2 stillborn due to clotting disorder

We lost a baby boy, Ethan james, and a baby girl, Emma Grace in 05 and 06. We have 3 children before them and one after. It was determined that I had MTHFR mutation which is a clotting disorder. The hospital staff were awsome in both instances and I have many momentos and pics of both. I thought I would never begin to heal. After taking folic acid, baby aspirin and heperin we have a healthy 2yr old princess.

Oddly enough, my brother and sister-in-law have just gone through the very same thing with a different clotting disorder.

Healing takes a while to begin and I still get very emotional looking through Ethan and Emma's momento boxes.

I found out i have 4 blood disorders after the loss of my son in march of 2007. MTHFR , PAI1, Factor V and Factor 13. I too take asprin everyday and had to do the folic acid and b6 and b12 vitamin with heperin shots when i was pregnant with my daughter.
She was born 4 weeks early do to starting to have the same symptoms that i had with my son. I was 29 weeks with him and had a complete placenta abruption losing 3/4 of my blood mass and almost dieng myself.

I found out after I lost my son. They took a lot of blood to test. I think I had my blood drawn 4 times while in the hospital...each time was for around 2-5 vials.

how did you guys know you had a clotting disorder? were there symtoms during the pregnancy? when I lost my son I was on bed rest for five days, but I had the sequentialls to keep the blood flowing, Ifound a blood clot a couple days later. they are not sure if its clotting disorder or not.

I have factor V Leiden. My first child, Rylee was born 3lbs 1oz at 26 weeks in 2006 as a stillbirth. They never knew i had Factor V Leiden at the time. Rylee died of a blood clot in her imbilical cord. A year later in 2007 my husband and i decided to try again. We were pregnant (but i was scared out of my mind, knowing i carried until 26 weeks, last time...) A month into the pregnancy i started bleeding, and found out i had misscarried. My heart was broken.
After i had miscarried, i still never started my cycle and went into the Dr for a check-up and found out i was carrying triplets and i miscarried two, but not the other.
I dont think anyone in the world could understand the emotions i was going through at that time. What was i going to do..it wasn't fair. When i was 4 months pregnant with my daughter they found out i had factor V leiden and started me on a heparin pump. Meaning i wore a machine around my waist with a needle pumping heparin everyday-all day. Even in the shower! ( I had it bad ( and i was scared!))
Everything was going great! I had ultrasounds every other week. I mean, what could go wrong!!
I was 32 weeks pregnant and i had a placenta ebruption. I lost 8 liters of blood, before they delivered my daughter. Since she lost all that blood and oxygen to her brain..she was born with brain damage. She couldn't do anything on her own. She had a trach, g-tube, oxygen, mist machine (you name it. My daughter, Novalee had it!)
I lived each and everyday making sure my daughter had everything and did everything i ever thought she wanted to do. Just because she had brain damage i put that blame on myself. It was my body that caused her to be the way she was.
So because of that, i lived everyday sitting right next to her, crying with her, hurting with her. Hospital stays every other week. It was rough, but i loved her more than anything in the world. I guess i should've stopped there knowing what was wrong with myself...but i didn't.
When Novalee was 6 months old, i got pregnant with my 5 child. I think this was the scariest/happiest day of my life. Knowing my daughter was going to have a little brother, who would love her just as much as her mommy and daddy.
Chaysen was born in 2009 and he is very healthy and normal. When chaysen was born i think i lived in guilt. Wishing Novalee could do what he could do...and see what he saw.
My daughter passed away june 14, 2009 at 19mths old.
And i dont think i could've ever gone through her death without knowing i had a son to go home too. I think having another child, even after losing children it's great for you.
I look through all 4 of my childrens memory boxes almost everyday. And i still haven't gotten rid of clothes yet.

I lost my son due to a clotting disorder too. Factor V Leiden Mutation. I had to give myself shots of lovenox, and heparin during my pregnancy. Then take cumadin after for a short time. I am taking a baby asprin everyday now.

I'm sorry for your loss...It will always be hard to look thru that box. I always get sad when I look thru mine.
