I lost my first and only child six months ago. She died at one month from cancer. I still cry for her almost every night before falling asleep at night. I can't describe how much I miss her every day. Mother's day seems to be looming ahead of me, and I am at a loss as to how to handle the day. We used to spend Mother's day, celebrating with either my mom or my mother-in-law, but this year, it will have an entirely different meaning for me. For those who lost a child, how did you handle your first mother's day? Do you have any suggestions or ideas?

Thank you Royel, what a beautiful idea to plant flowers at her burial site. I am sorry for your loss as well. I think sometimes our subconcious has a way of knowing these days, even if we think we don't.

I am so very sorry for your loss. My daughter passed away 2 yrs ago next month. The day I scattered her ashes happened to have been on mother's day. I was so out of it I had no idea what day it was.
For me I will visit that special place I dedicated just for her. I bring flowers to plant. Cut flowers die and just depress me more. A plant will flourish and bloom through out the seasons. I take it as a symbol of my everlasting love and bond that I will always have with my sweet angel Serenity.
