Has anybody lost a child due to incompetent cervix, or a clotting disorder. Have you carried succesfully since? I lost my son Mason at 22 weeks. I am now 32 weeks pregnant with twins. I have a cerclage and a clotting disorder called Protein S deficiancy. I would love to hear your stories, the positive, and the tough ones.

I have the factor V lieden clotting disorder. I lost a son in 2006 and had a m/c in that same year. Got pregnant in 2007 and was diagnosed with the clotting disorder. I also had to give myself lovenox injections throughout my pregnancy. As you can see in my picture, I have a healthy little boy. Your doing great and your being closely monitored. Good luck with your twins!!

Hello,
A good friend of mine has Factor 5 liden and she has had 3 healthy babies (2 since being diagnosed). Like Jaki, she was on baby aspirin and heparin injections and did deliver early, but healthy babies.
I wish you well! Let us know how it goes! Cassie

Hi Stephanie:

My first child, Brady was born at 24 weeks. He was severely growth restricted...just under 13 oz and 9.5 inches long. At the time, we didn't know that I had protein S deficiency. I was preeclamptic at about 15 weeks although the doctors swore to me that I could not have preeclampsia. Anyway, during my 23rd week I was hospitalized because Brady was so small. I was on watch for an emergency c-section. On the 4th day in the hospital they took him because his heart rate dropped. He fought for 8 days. He didn't have a brain bleed, but his kidneys weren't working and he wasn't breathing on his own. The hospital gave us the time we needed to realize that Brady would not make it.

My journey began from here! I found out that I had protein S deficiency and sought out the best doctors I could find! I went to the University of Miami for a hematologist and new ob/gyn. They treated me with lovenox and baby aspirin and I have had two healthy pregnancies since then. I have Parker (19 months) and Emma (3 months). I don't know much about the incompetent cervix, but if you are being treated for protein S deficiency you should be ok on that front. The fact that you are at 32 weeks is a great sign....with twins I think they are happy if you make it to 36 weeks. If you need anything at all please feel free to email me jaki.mcdonald@yahoo.com. Best of luck with your twins!
