Hello everyone, I am new to this website and exited. I have a 3 month old daughter named Payton who has been not wanting to drink her bottle. She would drink 4-5 onces of 2 parts BM and 2-3 parts formula each feed. I am no longer adding BM and it straight formula at this point. She has been refusing to finish her full bottle for approx. 3 weeks. She will drink exactly 2 oz. then stop, and push out the bottle. She also has discovered chewing or gumming the soft nipple I use the Tommee Tippee brand. Sometimes if I walk away and change the scenery she might finish but other times she wont. She doesn't seem to be losing weight and she doesn't complain. so what am I worried abpout, possibly my sleep, i don't want her to turn into a snacker. Do babys plateau at some point. She can also go 5 hours with complaining or showing any sign on hunger.I am so frustrated and panic stricken that I think I am losing my marbles. Anyone else going through the same situation?

I do feel for you at this worring time with your little one. Has she always liked the bottle or is this a new thing ...she has decided no breast and no bottle !!
Prehaps its as simple as she doesnt like the taste of her formular! orehaps the soft nipple has a taste she doesnt like.
I think you should ,first tell your GP and get her weight done ,then prehaps talk to your health visitor about some baby rice and then dont worry she wont go under weight as you are aware of the situation
Stay calm and give her lots of love

Hi Kim,

Three months of age is the magic age for a baby. A baby by that age has put on enough weight (generally) to allow them to go longer periods of time between feeds, as well as having some nights where they nearly (if not sometimes) sleep the whole night through. As long as your daughter isn't losing any weight, and that she is gaining something, and seems happy, then there probably isn't anything to worry about. But take her to your doctor, get her weighed and measured and express your feelings to them.

You will notice that your daughter will change her routine as she grows, and she will have periods of time when she will eat like crazy (which is usually a growing spurt), and times when she will cut back. This is normal for babies and children alike. But again, if she at any stage starts to bring up her milk regularly and begins to lose weight, then take her to your doctor immediately. Just monitor her closely and at any stage you feel that it's not right, you'll know what to do.

What you described sounds as if she has just plateaued for a little while, that's all. You may find that next week or so her appetite will increase again.

Good luck, and I hope I have been able to help a little.
