My son Brayden was a happy healthy 6 year old first grader until Jan 11th at 10pm when he threw up a few times and continued the next morning. I called the doctor on Friday morning and got him in he was lethargic, pale, and cold to the touch but still responsive. The doctor immediately called an ambulance. We had no clue what was wrong with him and I thought he had a stomach bug and dehydration. When we got to the ER they said his oxygen stats were low and his heartbeat was wrong so they did an EKG and it revealed left ventricle blockage. This was the first time I heard viral myocarditis. He was to be care flighted to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital but suffered heart attack in which his brain lacked oxygen. We spent another 5 hours waiting on the team from Cardinal Glennon to bring pediatric heart bypass machine and transport him by ambulance. His body on full life support made it but an EEG revealed no brain activity. I was 5 months pregnant during all this. After 2 more days there was organ failure and brain death so my son was removed from life support and went to heaven on 1/15/2012. I am now 8 months pregnant with his sister Baylee and it is so hard! Brayden was the best little boy a mom could ask for! I am in so much
