I have a 12 almost 13 year old daughter. She has a very strong identifiable case of ADHD. (she is one of the few kids who seems to have been correctly diagnosed.) She is on dexidrin but would either out right refuse to take them or hide them in her room. I started checking her mouth after she took it to make sure she had swallowed it. The pediatrician, the doctors, the teacher, the principal and myself all explained to her why it was important that she take her pills. It turns out her bio-mom had scared her with all the potential side effects. So I decided to put her on natural treatments, like Evening Primrose oil and Salmon oil. I recently went into her room to look for my hair elastics and found not only the oil pills hidden in her drawer but also her Allergy meds (she has bad hay fever and seasonal asthma.) I am at a loss as to what to do to get her to actually take the medicines and have her understand that they are for her benefit. Any helpful suggestions?
