I have a wonderful 5 year old girl who we adopted domestically. We were very lucky to have been in the right place at the right time and had a speedy adoption with her. We are now waiting what feels like an eternity to adopt our second child. We haven't been matched with a birth mother yet and are almost at the top of the list of waiting families. (longest wait). We sure can't complain about waiting our turn with this one since she was such a welcomed surprise.
Christmas time is so much fun with a 5 year old! Can't wait to see her be a big sister!

Hope everything goes well for you!  Good luck.  I know when the right birth mother comes along, it will work out for us too.  Yes, the wait is HARD but very worth it.

I have an 8 year old daugter that was a "fall in you lap" adoption. Just easy, fast, no issues. We are adopting again, and just got matched with a birthmother. We thought it would never get here. The wait is hard but worth it. It has been 14 months since we have been activated.

We are scheduled to go to a mandatory meeting at the adoption agency after receiving a letter entailing how the economy and low birth mother turn out has affected the business. I am so worried that they are going to tell us they are going out of business like some other agencies have! Its terrifying to think we may need to start all over after waiting 2 1/2 years and thinking that the wait was nearly over!

I wish domestic adoption was easier. There are so many loving homes that want more children and so many children who need a good home. It seems like it should be easy but it's not.
