Hi Denise, My daughter is 10 and she is ADD. She is on the Daytranna patch. She places it on her hip in the mornings before school and then at 3 she takes if off when she gets home. When we didnt use the patch homework would last for hours on in. School and tests were awful. She would cry and I would cry and then we finally sought out the help of her ped. That has helped out dramatically. My brother was ADHD and dyclesic,(cant spell that) I have had a lot of experience with this from him. The way that he would have to learn things was so time comsuming. But once he figured out the way that worked best for him it was still a struggle but less fighting and less tears. He learned better by hands on. Showing him things instead of reading these long drawn out books. I am willing to help you to understand anything that I can. Just message me. I will be glad to chat with you. I hope you the best. I also want you to know that there are other ways that may take longer to but they are medication free and take alot more effort. My ped had these suggestions for me. I wanted quick results so I chose the mecication. But there are other ways of dealing with ADD and ADHD. read up on it and seek the advice of you ped before making any rushed decision.

Hi! My name is Aimee and my oldest daughter, Katie, was diagnosed with ADHD at age 3!!! I couldn't believe it...didn't want to believe it, especially at that young age. We had 2 seperate medical opinions from Pediatric Psychiatrists which both confirmed. Katie was started on meds at age 3, with the first being the mildest form. However, that didn't work. After trial and error, she will be 10 in April and takes Methyphenidate (Ritalin) three times a day. She is an excellent student and reader. We dose her before school, at lunch by the school nurse, and after school by daycare. Each school year is trial and error as the older she gets, the class times and lunches are different. Fortunately, we have had the same school nurse since K-5 and she know Katie and the window of time she needs her dose very well. It is usually perfected for the year by the end of the first week of school. We tried the long-acting Ritalin and Strattera, but these did not work at all. We have hope that as she grows older, she will learn to channel her energy into something constructive and one day be medication free. For now, this works for her and she is in the process of challenging to test on higher levels. Good luck to you!!!

Hi there Denise. My name is Denise & my son was diagnosed in December with ADD/ADHD also. He is currently on medication (Metadate) & doing much better. It is challenging with a challenged child. We just couldn't get Noah to concentrate at school or while doing homework, it was awful! His behavior was very defiant, but is much better now. If I can be of help, please let me know.
