My son Brodie was born on the 5th may 2000 and he has got ADHD and he is doing very well at school, hates homework but wat kid dont.

My son was born 2-2-200 and he is healthy too, after reading these comments I am feeling very fortunate....he too has problems in his math but other than that he is a typical ten year old boy. I feel so blessed. he does have a benine heart condition which we recently discovered two years ago and no knowing what was going on was terrifying but fortunatley he is good to go. I only went through a year of torment with no knowing but now I realize how blessed I am to have two healthy children. God bless you moms with children that have medical conditions...

This is very interesting to me. I have 3 children, my middle son is my 2000 baby. He was diagnosed at age of 6 with Sensory Processing Disorder. The other 2 do not have any symptoms. Along with the SPD he is also labeled Gifted and Talented. Other than that he is very healthy and loving.

My son was born in May and he was healthy. He didn't get sick and slept through the night as soon as we brought him home. He was actually ahead in a few areas.

When he turned two his health declined. He started having seizures and he stopped learning. What he did know he wouldn't tell us anymore or go to the bathroom to potty. He's still a little slow thanks to the seizure meds, but he's off them and we are hopeful.
He also had severe flat feet which has been corrected with surgery. We def don't want to go through that again. He became clingy after that and is just now getting over it. Surgery was Jan 2008.

sorry to hear that. My son was born September 2000 in perfect health. I work full time in a preschool, and I find that there is a rise in many conditions such as global delays, and a myriad of bronchial issues

My DD has been dx with about 6 different 'challenges' but I'm sure God has a special plan for her as she is also 'twice exceptional'; with special gifts in music, art, math, science.

Seems about 1/3-1/2 her class every year has some sort of special thing to deal with. I don't know what is wrong or if it is more prevalent in our child's age group... or if it is just more recognised now than when we were younger. I don't recall very many children I went to school with having difficulties significant enough to take them out of class or get special treatment... and I would know as one of the "unique" kids growing up.

sorry...i know this conversation is rather old! but I am glad that others had noticed something special about our millenium baby's. This was the year that the crystal children came to our planet. they are offspring from Indigo children..its worth googling crystal children year 2000...this will explain some of the 'problems' like epilepsy, and adhd these precious souls are experiencing as they incarnate on our 'toxic' planet..these kids are special!!! also, it might be interesting to mention that this is the chinese year of the golden dragon...very auspicious!! as you normally have earth, fire, water, wood and air...aren't we so blessed that these children chose us!

Sorry you son is having problems. I have twins in 2000 and they are healthy. Nothing wrong with them. A handful, but nothing unsual.

Is it possible that he is actually bored with the work he is being given? Sometimes the child who is "gifted" will come across as "lazy and unmotivated" if he is not challenged. You might want to check with the school counselor or better yet ask your pediatrician for a referal to a good child psychologist for evalution. By the way, how can a teacher call an 8 year old "unmotivated". Isn't it the teacher's job to find a way to motivate the student? Hang in there!!

my daughter was born in march 2000 and has no problems at all with her health, but she is very demanding and head strong, she wants every thing her way or no way,

which makes it hard for me and my other children, i find it hard to cope with her at times , she is the youngest of my 4 children and none of my others was like her.

Sorry to hear about all of the issues. My son was born the end of June of 2000 and is excelling in everything. He is in the 3rd grade, but doing late 4th to 5th grade work. He is a bit fidgity, but other than that, he's great. Very sensitive and loving boy.

I don't think you can classify the year 2000 babies as being the generation with lots of problems and disorders. I am a dance teacher and I also teach kids ministries at church. In dance, I teach a range of ages, 3 years to 4th grade. At church, I teach 4th through 6th grade. Trust me, there are kids of every age that have something. You have the shy ones, the loud ones, the funny ones, kids with diabetes, kids with other disorders such as ADHD, kids with glasses......I have three healthy kids, which I thank the Lord, but I'm sure it is easy to notice kids with "problems" when you have one the same age especially if you have one with a "problem". I don't mean to dismiss your concerns, if that's what they are, but in this day and age, there's a name for everything. If a kid is restless, they sometimes just need to run it out, not be prescribed medication for it.

My daughter is very healthy, even as a baby she never had to go to the doctor, only for check ups! We are very blessed! She does very well in school and loves to write books!

I am sorry to hear of all of the health problems that your children have. My dausghter was born in November of 2000 and she is very healthy. She is a little slow in math skills, but she is reading between 3rd and 4th grade level. Her attitude is difficult to handle, though!

My oldest had symptoms of ADD and Dyslexia (school wanted medication). I was on a waiting list to get both girls checked out just in case at Scottish Rite Hosp in Dallas, TX. Then I found out about a therapeutic optometrist. He ran a lot of visual and balance tests. Turns out she had visual and audio processing disorders. Glasses with prisms corrected the vision--she's reading now. I was told by the speech pathologist that her coping skills were good with the hearing and they couldn't help her. I am saving up for "The Listening Program". It's $400, but another pathologist suggested it. The optometrist found the vision and sent me to an audiologist for the hearing. Both doctors were on our insurance and I was thankful. My 2000 baby so far doesn't have any disabilities, just attitude but I know in time that will settle down too. Did for my oldest. I hope this helps.

Hello! My daughter was born in August 2000, and is hard of hearing (unilateral hearing loss). Her school also believe that she very well may have a learning dissability. My friends daughter was born in the May with her intestines etc. outside her body. How strange.........

My son anthony was born in september of 2000 and has been diagnosed with aspergers syndrome. What is funny, a girl I knew who I worked with whose son was born on the same day and year as my son is also on the spectrum.

My daughter who was born in May 2000 has ADHD....we could never figure out why she couldn't sit still or do her homework that should have been very easy for her....thanks to some medication she is happy and well adjusted now but it wasn't easy getting here...also she has a condition known as Bicuspid Aortic Valve....basically all it means is she has 2 flaps on her aortic valve instead of 3 it doesn't affect her health but she may eventually have to have her valve replaced......

Totally unrelated my neighbours each have children born in 2000 one born in January is also ADHD and the other born 3 weeks before my daughter in May is Autistic....don't know if it has anything to do with when they were born but it does seem odd to me that there are so many kids in our small community that have so many problems

There seems to be a very big variant between the kids this age. I've noticed in my daughter's classroom. There are the "normal" ones and then the ones who are different is a good word. My daughter has dyslexia and ADHD. There are many in her class who don't have her specific conditions but have their own problems. Even with their impairments though they are very bright children. My daughter is now one of the top in her class because of the help she's received. They need a different avenue of help as with past generations we are seeing new and wonderful developments in our children as we as a species are continuing to evolve. This just corresponds to my own spiritual beliefs but have you read any books on Indigo children? They can be found in the metaphysical/spiritual section of a book store. It might help you understand but you may take offense as well. It depends on the person, I know some people do not believe what I believe and that is ok. =) Just a thought.
