This question is my daughter's question so we're looking for answers from parents who have daughters heading into the 6th grade this fall. What televison shows do you allow your daughter to watch? What shows are off limits? You don't have to give reasons for your choices, but I'd definitely appreciate any info you have regarding your choice(s). Thank you :)

My step-daughter (12) watches a lot of mystery shows like House of Anubis as well as a few Australian shows like H2O and Sweet Water High. Truth be told, she's not learning anything from a t.v show that she's not learning from her friends in middle school.

Yes. No Spongebob. Crude comments. Shake it up. Some of the episodes are fine. Victorious. Only some. I don't recommend that for an 11 year old. NO Gravity Falls. Not good. Lab Rats is okay. the shows are getting horrible these days!

we do not allow our girls to watch shows below their intelligence level. for example, no sponge bob, cat dog, no crude or degrading shows like family guy, or the simpsons, or southpark.our 11 year old loves American idol even though she doesn't see every episode. we try really hard not to let tv plan our evenings. if there is a show that becomes all important it usually gets eliminated. I just don't want any of my girls to think tv is the only thing to do. surprisingly, they do watch a little but don't miss it much when they are doing other things. good luck and God bless!
