Hi mums, i have a 6 1/2 month old son and am loving being a mummy.
I am told thats boys are not quite as fast in development as girls?
I just wanted to see what age did you start potty training.?
and how long it took to master the potty use.!
Thanks everyone : )

my son is 2 and a half and he won't sit on his potty.. He occasionally pees on the toilet but he doesn't tell me before he goes only after.. does this mean he's not ready?

I started when my son was 1 & half. But was very unsuccessful because of my grandparents (who I lived with at the time). I would be in a part of the house & I would hear him ask them to go to the bathroom & they would respond with "You have a diaper, go in your diaper". & there was no point in saying anything to them because they wouldn`t listen. So I would make sure he told me when he had to go. It did take A LOT longer to potty train him because of it. I finally moved out shortly after he turned 2 & was able to fully potty train him by the time he was 3.

I started with my son around eighteen months, and he took to it for a few months but soon gave up. He Turned Three this last November, and soon after that mastered the toilet.

I think you follow the child's readiness. When they express signs that they want to is when you will have the most success. I pushed potty training on my eldest and he took over a year to stay dry during the day and 3 years to stay dry at night! My 2nd i waited till he showed interest and walla 2 weeks he was completely dry day and night he was just over 2 years old! Goodluck!
