Hi all. I am getting ready to start potty training my son (almost 2) and was wondering if there were some tips or tricks that seemed to help potty training go well for you and your son. I'm already starting to get him psyched about it through potty training books, but not really sure how to take the next step...like, when should I introduce him to training pants...? Any tips and ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Quoting Jennifer:

There is a product called Peter Potty, its a training urinal.  I have a friend who had it at a party and the boys there just knew to pee in it when they saw it.  Of course after they did, they announced it to everyone LOL!  It is also portable so you can put it in their room too so they don't wet the bed at night.  And its only like 40 bucks-ish.  It has had great reviews for potty training boys, it actually flushes so boys find it super fun!!   You don't even have to hook it up to plumbing either.  http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/pages/...

Thank you so much Jennifer. I appreciate the info!

I took my son to the store and let him pick out his big boy underwear. then he was more excited to try so he could wear his new big boy pants. I also was super excited and sad to say even when his dad went. I would say "Dad is such a big boy he went potty in the toilet yeah dad!" My husband was not real thrilled but whatever. Make a big deal and buy little treats for when he tries. good luck. I need to start on my 2 yr old now =)

Start off with reading books while he is on the potty but if you prefer for him to learn standing put cheerios in the toilet so he can have something to aim at.
