Hope this school year is off to a good start for everyone. We started off a little bumpy, but after a school change we are smooth sailing! It is funny now, but Sam's first kindergarten teacher...after a summer of communication and education for the teacher, school nurse, guidance couselor, etc. began the first day of school asking me if "Organic wheat is okay?" I told her no, it is still wheat... then she asked, "But I didn't think they used gluten in organic foods?"
I started to have a panic attack at the time but now I realize that there is still just so much unknown about celiac disease and the gluten free diet. Why it is needed and how it helps us. There are a lot of organic foods that happen to be gluten-free and maybe that is just what registered in her head. I hope we call all have a great and positive influence on our children's caretakers, so our kids are safe, are included in normal activities and come out of school feeling positive and good about themselves!
Hope you all get a chance to check out my website, www.adventuresofaglutenfreemom.com I post family and kid friendly recipe ideas, review food products, (Friday, I will be reviewing the new GF cereal by General Mills: Sprinkles Cookie Crisp!) celiac disease education, restaurant reviews and craft supply reviews...I am in the middle of a GF play dough series right now.
