Hello I have a 17 yr old son.GOD IS OUR STRENGTH!! He has had SOME MAJOR THINGS. My daugher has done pretty good. If you dont know Jesus try geting to know HIM. You will have good and hard days but if you allow God He will give you all u need. TRUST GOD. It has't been all ez but I LOVE THEM!! IT WILL MAKE U A STRONGER WOMAN!!

Welcome Kerry! Sorry to get to take so long to respond to your post...Unfortunately I have a son and he just turned 4, so I have a very long wait before we hit the puberty stage! LOL....Hopefully some of the other mothers will have some responses that might help. What are some of your concerns with her SC, age & her health? I can definetly try to give some advice & would be happy to get more information for you as well. Stay blessed & look foward to hearing from you soon!

Hello_ I am a mom of a wonderful 12 yrs little girl with SC. I would love to contect wiht other moms with children with SC. We are approaching puberty, and i am a little nervous as tohow this will affect her health...

I pray that your daughter is healthy and does not have sickle cell. All I can say is put it in God's hand...He makes things happen for a reason. I have very little knowledge myself about sickle cell except for the handouts that I have been given. I have been blessed to have a case manager who works for a sickle cell agency in this area. However I am also working to become more informed about my child's disease and I will be sure to pass along any information to you all.

Wow....you just opened my eyes....my son has beta thalessemia as well and I have been told it was the "good" form of sickle cell and that i wouldn't have to worry too much. My faith is so strong in God, but you have also helped me to realize not to take my son's "good" SC for granted b/c tomorrow is never gauranteed. Thank you so much for sharing your story and giving me a reason to praise God even more for the health of my child. God bless you and your family! Love you!

Hi everyone.

My son is 2 months old and has been diagnosed with sickle cell anemia. we went to the hospital about 3 weeks ago to do some bloodwork to determine the severity of his condition. i also have a 2 year old girl who, to my knowledge, doesnt have sickle cell but the doctors and nurses still wanted to do some bloodwork on her to see if she has it as well. i got checked out for it as well. hopefully we can get back the results soon. its nerve racking.

i'm completely ignorant. ive only had less than a handful of friends who have sickle cell but theirs were mild. the nurse gave me a brief rundown on what exactly it is but didnt really tell me how it can affect my son. im so glad ive found an online community with other mommies who have children with sickle cell. it reassures me that we are not alone and we will always have someone to confide in who truly understands.

I have been looking for a site like this for years. Unfortunately my son Devin has passed away due to splenic sequestration in 2000. He was born with sickle-beta-thalasemia and died a month before he turned 3 years old. This was so devestating i was scared to have anymore children. Unbenounced to me i was pregnant already, i talked to devin's hemotologist and he said if my baby had sickle thal he would remove the spleen after the baby turned 1 and all the fetal blood was replaced. Luckily I gave birth to 4 healthy children since Devin past and the 9 months prior were rollercoasters wondering if i would have another child with sicklethal. Devin was not a "sickly" child up until the day he died he amazed the doctors and was very energetic. I thank god for the time i had with him and miss him every day.

Hello Ladies!  My name is Caroline Payne and I have a 7 year old daughter with sickle cell ddisease.  She has the worst kind (SS).  She has been throught several hospitalizations and has been there for as long as 31/2 months at a time.  She is an inspiration to me because she goes through so much, and still has the time tol worry about others first.  If only we could all be a selfless!  I am happy to be onboard with you ladies and hopefully we can be of great help to one another!

Hello ladies! Sorry it took so long for me to respond. I am a single mom of a 3 year old boy. I don't really know about where the articles come from, I would be glad to get this information. My son actually has one of the forms of sickle cell, (beta thalessimia). Even though this is a "good" form of sickle cell, it still places him at risk for certain things. I am glad that you ladies joined this group and was very surprised that there wasn't one started. But I definetly look foward to talking with you all and how we can help each other through any sort of support. Stay Blessed!
