HI Michele, I have prepared a PowerPoint document for my son's 1st grade teacher and I'm more than willing to share it if you're interested. You can edit/tweak it to meet your son's needs. It's a brief document that hits on what I think is important for the teacher to know. It doesn't include my son's name as I intended it to be about TS and its associated conditions. I met with my son's teacher before school started and she found it helpful as she's never had a student with TS. Additionally, her only knowledge of TS is based on a show she saw last year about girls and severe TS.

My son has a 504 Plan... he has a wiggle chair (a chair with uneven legs so he can fidget and get wiggles out), preferred seating (allows him to tic w/o hitting others), walks in back of line to/from class so he can tic unnoticed, exta books (which we don't need at this time), weekly lunch bunch meeting to address social issues, nonverbal cues as a call to task or to advise him to take break, breaks from the class as needed to release tics.

Hang in there. I hope your son has a great year with an understanding teacher and understanding peers!

Faith just started all day developmental K this week and I was so anxiety ridden for her. We did go in last week to meet the 2 different teachers since she has regular K in the AM and then Dev K in the PM. It helped so she could meet the teachers, see the room, and I could explain the TS/OCD tics she has and how we manage them etc. So far so good through week 1. Try calling the school and see if you can set up a mtg or at least phone conference with the teachers prior to school starting. Good Luck
