Hi there, My name is Allie and I am hearing however I have a 2 and a half year old little boy who is profoundly deaf since birth! He is amazing and at 8 months he was cochlear implanted! He is doing AMAZING! He signs as well as talks....doing both equally as well as the other :) I really wanted him to have every opportunity so when he is older he can choose to do what is best for him :) I just wanted to reach out to other moms....its nice to know people who are going through what you are or have been through it already :) ThankS!!

My oldest was implanted bilaterally in May of 2009. She lost her hearing in/around May of 2008. The implants were the best thing we could have done for that. It has just been a little over a month since she was activated and we have already noticed a difference in her. Her speech is so much better and the sparkle in her eyes is back. It is amazing. We to wanted to make her life easier and to do what was best for her. She doesn't sign but does read lips very well.
