I am the mother of 2 adult children, a son 46 and a daughter 38. I have 5 grandchildren ranging in age from 3 yrs old to 21 yrs old. I have been married to the same wonderful man for 47 years as of June 23, 2009. Our kids have always lived close to us and our family is close knit, but with the economy and trying to raise families in the last 4 months they have both had to relocate. My son and daughter-in-law moved from Michigan to South Carolina for a job and my daughter and son-in-law relocated to Florida. Although I am happy for them, it has been very difficult to cope with. Anyone else is this situation and how are you doing it? Does it get any easier with time?

Hi. My daughter lives 5 hours from me. She did live 14 hours away but has moved closer over the years. It never gets easy for me when they come and start to leave. Granddaughter and I have a crying party each time they start to leave. We do keep up with each other with pictures on the computer. We do Instant Messenger which helps.

Grandkids growing up away from me is difficult. My son lives near and has 8 children. They are fun to have around. Just hope they stay close. Does anyone have any comments to how to cope with it all?
