My son Alex, was circumcised at birth. About a week later the site started to bleed. It took an ER visit and 3 stitches and he was just fine. However, We were not diagnosed with Severe Hemophilia A until after he had his tonsils and Adnoids removed when he was almost 5 yrs. Now at 7yrs, he has a port which we love and we phropy dose him 3 times a week. It's a hard choice, good luck.

My son riley didn't get circumcised at birth b/c he had a head bleed ( not in the brain) when he was born so he got circumcised at 10 months !and they put him to sleep ! He got his port put in at 1 1/2 which we love the port he gets his factor every other day! I wanted to get riley circu. before he was old enough to relize what was going on! I was scared and he did have a little bleeding afterwards but we told the hospitial we wanted to stay and they let us! I'm glad i did it when he was a baby! i WISH YA'LL THE BEST OF LUCK! kim

first of all i am so happy to be able to converse with other mommys about hemophilia! My son is 4 months old. He has severe hemophilia A.....however! We did not know about it until his circumcision began bleeding when he was 8 days old. It was a scary night and morning waiting on test results for a diagnosis, but when he got the infusion of factor everything was perfect. I think only a mother knows whats best for her child, but with Prayer, trust in the doctor and the factor, I think the surgery could be a success. What does your doctor say about it now?

My little boy was not circumcised at birth. August 2008 he went in to have his port put in and I requested it to be done then. He only has one kidney and also has urinary reflux so I wanted it to be done to try to cut down on the UTI's. His urologist didn't want to do it but since I requested it he did it. He was only in the hospital for 1 night with all of his stuff that he had done. He had to have his factor every 8 hrs I think it was. He is fine now. He was 3 1/2 when he had it done. Does your little boy severe? Mine is severe. Good luck with it all.
