Hi everyone, well, I've been posting in every possible twin forum i can find trying to find o ut as much as possible. I went for my nt scan on 12/23 and found out i was carrying twins, not only that but they are same sac, same placenta. Of course i had no idea what this all meant till i came home and starting reading about it and not Im so scared. my doc said I would be admitted for monitonring at the hospital between 24-26 weeks and babies would be csec at 31 weeks. I'm just so nervous I'm going to loose the babies before I make it to that point. Even though I'm only 12 weeeks + I'm already feeling fluttering. I do have a 2 year old duaghter as well so hubby will be working and taking care of her, I have to try to find help for him for when I go inthe hospital as well (we don't have any family that can help) but Im' afraid to start planning things because I'm afraid it will jinx things. we'll I'd love to hear from those that have been through or are going through this, i really could use the support at this time. thanks so much.

Hi Shannon, thanks so much. yeah I pretty much have movement just on my one side as well, I know in my ultrasounds a couple of weeks ago they were facing the same direction as well so ahh, who knows. .I've been praying they'll find a membrane at my 16 week visit next week but if not I'm just praying that god will keep them safe for me.. :) Lucinda

I don't remember when I felt anything. I do remember being slightly freaked when, after I did feel movement, I started only feeling it on one side. But, turns out they were both facing the same way and their feet were on the same side - the side I felt kicking. It is hard not to know but it's also hard to worry all the time. I hope they find a membrane for you. I know that is a big relief, or so I've heard. I kept hoping they'd find one for me, but it wasn't there. Hang in there!

Hi Ladies, Wow its so great to hear success stories.. I hope hope hope my little ones make it and our ok.. the waiting in these early weeks is soooo hard. My emotions have been up and down and I really haven't gotten excited over the pregnancy for fear I will loose them. I'm trying not to worry to much but its hard at time. I'm 14 weeks now 15 as of monday.. On thursday I def felt kicks and movement and now the past few days have felt NOTHING which is freaking me out. its not that I had consistent movement not at all, but I was starting to feel little things here and there and now to go to nothing I'm freaked out.. My next ob visit is on thursday so I'm hoping for the best then I have another scan the following week (16 weeks) with my mfm doc I'm still HOPING they will find a membrane but if not just hoping for the best.. thanks so much for your responses.. Do you remember when you first started feeling the babies move??

I found out around 14 wks that I was having momo twins - same placenta, same amniotic sac. My boys arrived at 33W2D perfectly healthy. They were in the NICU for about 10 days but only because they had to work up to full feedings. I was put in the hospital at 27W2D, given a round of steroids just in case and just waited. They monitored me 2X's a day with non stress tests and then quick scans in between. I watched a ton of TV but was able to get up and around since I wasn't on bed rest. I had 2 other kids - 4 & 18 months at the time so it was hard not to be with them. But, each day was a milestone and it works. My 4YO had a tough time with me being away but my 18month old just went to daycare like usual and was fine. I tried to just get thru every little milestone one at a time - 18 weeks, 20 weeks, etc. The goal was 34W but they took them at 33W2D when one showed a blip of distress on the monitor. They were 4-14 & 4-15 and did fine.

Be careful what you read since a lot of info out there is old. With good monitoring their chances are extremely good. I went to a Maternal Fetal Medicine doctor and her success rate was around 100%. But reading on line and the first doctor who scanned us gave us about a 50/50 chance. Our type of pregnancies are rare and years ago there was no monitoring so the statistics you may be seeing are out of date. I found this website to be helpful: www.monoamniotic.org.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. My boys are healthy, happy almost 2YO's now who look EXACTLY alike.

First just breathe! My husband and I found out we were having mono mono twin girls around the same time as you. Don't freak out when reading stuff online, cause it's mostly scary. Our twins were scheduled to be delivered by c-section on Sept 10th 2009 at 32 wks. I was admitted into the hospital to be monitored 3 x's a day for an hour each time at 26 weeks, and it was the best decision of our lives. The doctor's explained at the concern is that the cord entaglement will cut off blood supply so that the best chance for everything to be okay is to be admitted. I was in the hospital for a total of 48 days and I don't regret one of those days. Our girls were born on Sept 10th as scheduled at 3 lbs 15 oz and 3 lbs 8 oz, and they spent 3 wks in the NICU. Today they both weigh over 12 lbs and you would never be able to tell that they were preemies. But believe me I understand completely the worry, we found out we were having mo mo twins after a previous miscarriage and it's a scary time, but be positive. Your babies have a great chance for being healthy! Any other questions feel free to contact me at ristauj@hotmail.com!
