Periods are getting shorter, lighter, and closer together

I'm 24. My periods are very regular. I've been told that with my first pregnancy my periods got messed up before they stopped all together, but I honestly don't remember. I am going to take a pregnancy test this afternoon, but I never showed up on one with my daughter.
My Periods have been this:
May 20th
June 16th
July 11th
Aug 4th
They have been lighter than normal (not worthy of a tampon) and lasting only a few days instead of my normal 7 or 8. I'm also not feeling my normal cramping or ovulating either.
Has anyone else experienced this? Could I be pregnant? If this continues next month, I'll go see my OBGYN, but for now I'm trying to hold off since my husband just got laid off and we don't really have $$$ for a doc right now.

i would find a free or cheap womens clinic. ive always been told to go to planned parenthood but after my son was born i went to get bc and they wanted $80 for a pelvic exam that my obgyn just did the day before. they told me they couldnt help me any futher without doing one themselves and they couldnt just get my records from my dr. so myself wouldnt recommend them but idk that was my first and only time going there others my be different or cheaper.

I'm 40 and over the years my periods did the same thing. It was much heavier at 6-7 days in my teens and 20's then regulated to lighter with only 3-4 days, then at some point lessened to 1-2 days, not tampon worthy with sometimes 50 days between periods. Not everyone is on a 28 day cycle consistently. I got on a new pill and haven't had a period since I started, but tests keep coming up negative. Not sure where you live, but Planned Parenthood and other "free" or modified payment clinics are available to go get checked out.

Are you using birth control? Sometimes your periods can become perfectly insync and then they can change..just depends on your body and how it reacts to the hormones. or this could also be due to stress. I know I have the Mirena IUD and some months I don't get a period at all and then a month or 2 later I'll have one and it'll only last a few days and be really light. With this IUD it's supposed to get shorter lighter and sometimes even go completely away. But best of luck to you on figuring out what's going on with your body.

Check to see if their is a free clinic for women in your area. Somethings women's clinics will have a sliding scale for fees if they are not completely free.

You could be pregnant and still bleed - it's happened to a few friends -- but it could also be something else.
I have PCOS (Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome) My periods are irregular and I don't ovulate most months.
