Complications during Pregnancy and childbirth..

The scariest thing that any pregnant woman can see is doubt or concern on her doctor's or midwife's face. And Complications although unwanted sometimes Happen. At the end of my pregnancy i had expected my son to promptly arrive on his due date all smiles and joy. Being a first time mother i was not expecting an overdue baby... I developed a case of pre-eclamptic toxeamia and i was induced 12 days after my due date. Has anyone else experienced a complication with an overdue baby?

My guy was between 2-3 weeks overdue, based on LMP vs U/S estimate, and he was very healthy and big - 9.5 pounds. I had him at home with a midwife, so luckily I didn't have anyone pressuring me to be induced, and the labor progressed smoothly - of course it was painful but actually very peaceful and such a powerful experience! My water broke about 24 hours before the active labor kicked in, and that lasted 12 hours, plus 1.5 hours more of pushing.



Unfortunately I had a severe post-partum hemorrhage afterward that didn't respond to pitocin or the other prescription drugs - midwife has those, but not the really dangerous ones - and so I had to take an ambulance to the hospital afterwards to stop the bleeding with some serious drugs (hemabate - bad side effects), other treatment, and then needed blood transfusions. After a few days I went home and 2 weeks later it happened again! They don't know what caused it, but said I had "uterine atony" which just means my uterus wouldn't contract back down to stop the bleeding on it's own - I think it could be have due to his large size! Still I am grateful I waited til he was ready and wasn't induced, because the pain would have been more intense, and may have led to other risky interventions and c-section.

hi i was induced on the 10th day over, i ended up having her on the 11th day over, i had an emergency cessarian as her heart rate went down to 20 and stuck like that for 3 minutes. her cord was around her neck and body.
