Hi, my son has just turned 4 has di george syndrome. He was diagnosed just after birth as he was rushed to hospital for major heart surgery at 3 days old. Spent the first few months in hospital recovering and being tube fed and the first year was certainly very tough, but more than worth the sleepless nights and worries as he is a gorgeous, funny little boy and the light of my life. His sence of humour never ceased to amaze me. His main concerns health wise would be a low immune system, he sees an immunologist in regards to this and is on long term antibiotics since birth and his speech is very slow but he is making major improvements in the last few months. He did have a submucous cleft palate and was operated on at 2 1/2. Hoping he will start mainstream school next September, his intelligence would be excellent, its just that the lack of speech is holding him back, but hopefully with regular speech therapy this will improve.......... love to hear from anyone else in the same position.

My oldest daughter MaKyla was diagnosed with Autism in March 2009, and after a genetic test (FISH) we were given the diagnosis of DiGeorge in April. She is almost 3. We live in Arkansas. How long have you known about your child's diagnosis? What are some of his/her manifestations? Hope to be able to help you, and hope you can help me as well. God Bless you and your child, and I sure am glad to have found someone else "in the same boat" as my family is.
