My daughter is almost 5 yrs old and 24 pounds. I have tried all the tricks to pick up her calories. Any bright ideas would be appreciated.

Is she on any medication? My son went through a period of time until he was about 10-11 yrs. old and finally started gaining weight after we switched his medication. He is now 18 and is very healthy, eats very well, and weight is no longer a problem. When he was little from about 15mos. until he was 7 or 8, we gave him PediaSure every day. It was the only thing that kept him going at first as he would not eat food. PediaSure has more fat and calories than regular Ensure which is why our doctor told us to use that. Hope this helps.

I have a great niece who had troub;e gaining weight. Either Carnation Instant Breakfast with Whole Milk or Pedia Sure worked for her some.

Have you talked to a nutritionist? We went to one who gave us some high calorie recipes for our son. We also did Ensure which helped maintain his weight, and gain a little but not much. We ended up with a g tube- best thing we ever did. Made our life so much easier, and Jacob gained 6 lbs in about 2 mths!

I gave my son things like ensure or drinks with high calories that r good for kids. You should also ask her doctor about it.
