Does any one have a child with spina bifida?

I have a 13month old son, Michael that was born with spina bifida and hydrocephlus. He is paralyzed from the waist down, bowel issues, but so far no bladder issues. He is one of the happiest babies I have ever seen! No matter what is going on with him he always has a smile.

I have an almost 10yo Daughter Jessica with Spina Bifida. She is the smartest girl I know! Loves to read and write stories, very beautiful, loves to learn, play and have fun. She also has a tethered spinal cord which was operated on when she was 1 yo and her doctors at the Children's Hospital keep an eye on that with MRI's. She has bowel and bladder probs, has leg muscle weakness but can walk. Some days are hard for her and she gets very tired. At times she has UTI's which she hates as they cause alot of pain. She is a very strong girl and a pleasure to be around, greatest of company. It took heaps and heaps of folate before and during pregnancy. The doctors say if I hadn't she may have been alot worse. She has also had botox injections in her bladder to increase the volume it can hold. This seems to have worked but for some reason has more UTI's since having this procedure done twice???

I have a 6 yr old son with spinal bifida and tethered spinal cord syndrome. He also had to have his left leg removed thru the knee.

I had a daughter that had a neural (sp?) tube defect. But she only lived 2 days. Are you having some kind of trouble with your child or are you expexcting a child with spia bifida?
