My daughter is 36 now, we have had many years of struggles and much to celebrate too.. Every new thing she learns is a reason to celebrate and I do make a big deal of it...I always want her to know that whatever she does is important and she is special in more than one way. I try to treat her as normal as possible and I try to make her laugh at herself instead of getting upset or angry when she can't do something. Her biggest disapointment is that she can't read, she loves books , I read to her as often as I can but it isn't the same she really wants to read but it just doesn't seem to happen for her, so I do try to keep her interested in other things she can do, like word search puzzles , she loves music and dancing, plays computer games, and likes doing Math .
I hope you have a full ,happy life as I have and you will see that a special needs child is a blessing in many ways.
Sincerely,
Deb

Hi all, I am a mum of a 15yr son with cerebral palsy/spastic quadreplegia/developmental delay/epilepsy. I bought my son into the world alone and have faced many challenges with him along the way as well as being diagnosed myself with ptsd. I have quite a broad knowledge regarding his disablitly and related services designed to help and support him. I would love to chat with you and help you thru dilemas and in return learn from you. I'm from NZ so I can only relate to wat goes on here. This is a great site and I am glad to be a part of it.

Hi. I'm a mum of 3 kids. My eldest girl has cerebral palsy and pervasive development disorder (Austism Spectrum Disorder). Thankfully my younger 2 have no impairments.
