wondering if there is any other parents who have a child with hip displasia and scoliosis, how bad does it have to get before they will treat it. and how bad is the surgery to fix it

Does your child walk? Many times, as long as the dysplasia is not causing any discomfort, surgery is not done. Scoliosis surgery is performed if there is enough curve to effect lung function or if there is discomfort from it. It really is a personal preference and I would talk with the doctors for recommendations. My son has both hip dysplasia and scoliosis and I have elected not to do surgery on his hips as my son cannot walk and is not weight bearing though his legs. The scoliosis surgery is very rough and because of a host of other issues my son has, we are not doing that surgery either.
