Ok,I will try not to ramble.
My son who is 10 has developmental and medical "issues".He usually wears diapers but will pee on the toilet if you put him on it.
On Tues am his urine was pink, but I thought he might have put something in the toilet(like a marker or something).Wed am his diaper from overnight was pink and was pink again in the toilet. So I am thinking blood in urine makes it pink, tho he had no signs of UTI(no fever, pain).
I took him to the Dr wed afternoon,he was able to give them a tiny sample(about a teaspoon). They said there was bilirubin, sugar and keytones(DUH,he has type 1 diabetes,so sugar and keytones do not bother me) in his urine but no blood.
They sent it to the lab.The lab said no bilirubin (but it took awhile for the lab to get it and light can break down bilirubin)but there was nitartes.THey told me to call thurs and I did and since C&S was neg for bacteria they told me to call fri,I called fri and still no bacteria, told me to call today,I did and there is still no bacteria.
I did not think he had a UTI,but now since there is no bacteria they told me to call mon if it was still a weird color.
It was not pink this am,but more orange-ish.
His diaper from last night is also orange-ish.
What can make your urine pink or orange if it is not blood?I would think if it was something he ate that it would have been out of his system after 4 days.
I am tempted to take him to children's since they have a lab and can do blood work and a ultrasound. But I do not really feel like spending the day there, esp if it is "nothing"
Has anyone had this happen?

Thanks,

It was like that for over a week and they could never figure it out...it went away whatever "it" was..If it happens again tho I will take him to a urologist.

it might be possible to have a small kidney stone that might be the cause of the off color of the urine, but not have any discomft or fever... I would take the time and take him to a children's hopital and have them do a complete work-up. If it's still happening days later and your doctor doesn't know what is going on, I'd want answers. ( I too have a special boy, 10yrs old developmental delay, cystic fibrosis, apraxia of speech, and processing disorder..) If he can't tell you what is going on... You have to be the detective. Good luck. I hope it is nothing serious... Kerri O.

I read alot of stuff about what can cause it.The things that could cause it do not apply to him. There has been no changes in his medications or his diet and he is not dehydrated.
If it was something he ate,it would have been out of his system before now(obviously unless he kept eating/drinking it),and he has not been eating or drinking anything different anyhow.
I think the Dr has NO idea what is causing it.

As a parent I would be concerned if this is not typical for your son. I would monitor what he eats and how much he is drinking to see if there can be any correlation to this issue. I would not think twice about spending the day at the lab at the expense that something may not be wrong. There are several reasons the urine can be these colors, check out webmd.com and research a little to see if anything sounds familiar to your specific situation. I pray everything is ok for your son and you find out what is causing this. Best of luck .
