bread has been a tough one....we even tried making rice bread....only tastes ok to us if toasted...we really have just turned to corn or rice tortilla wraps for bread.....we bought a quesadilla maker and those are big too....takes 3 minutes and you could put cheese and veggies...peanut butter and jelly ...lots of different recipes. good luck

we had my nine year old tested when he was 5 but it came back negative.my two year old got tested two weeks ago and it came back positive, he is small for his age only weighing 23 pounds ,he loves mac and cheese so i did buy rice pasta and made it the same way as always and he seemed to like it.this is all new to me and thankyou amy for telling me about the tooth paste and playdough which he loves to play with , now i will make it myself with the rice flour instead.lynn i'm in mass and yes we have boars head and thankyou for telling me about it i will get some tommorow for him.what do i use for bread i'm not sure ? i will also be changing our diets so there won't be any mistakes with my little one getting into something we are eating.thanks again for the advice.

boars head deli meats....do you have them in your area?? they are gluten free, preservative free, dye free....very common coldcut and cheeses....what state are you in? I live in Saratoga Springs, NY with gluten free stuff everywhere, but if I know where you are I can give you ideas where to shop. Also, you might find it very advantageous to put your nine year old with Autism on the same diet. Have you had your 9 year old tested for celiacs....there have been many cases where children have been misdiagnosed with autism and they really have celiacs....I personally know of a little girl who had no speech or social skills and fell into this category and a new doc discovered it was celiacs and her diet change showed immediate results with her talking within 10 days. Food for thought....we actually folllow a gluten free diet not only for our Julianna who has developmental delays but for my husband who has crohns. I have to say, I have felt much better myself following the diet. Good luck and let me know generally where you live and I can try and share a list of places...supermarkets and restaurants now have lists of gluten free products and meals as well.

It's really hard to find foods that are similar enough for a 2 year old to believe they're the same as what's on your plate, unless they are the same. It might be a good idea to just remove the foods with gluten from the house, and have everyone go gluten free. Also, were you told a lot of toothpastes, envelope glue, stamp glue, medications, play doh have gluten in them? It's very difficult. And any wooden utensils (cooking spoon, cutting board) will need to be replaced to prevent contamination, as it holds the gluten within it. Off to a more helpful portion! :)
