When my son needed extra calories, they wanted to put a feeding tube in. He ate fine and I would not let them. He is now so big that he is on a diet. They had us give him carnation instant breakfast. They had us add a spoonful into his mashed potatoes. They had us make pudding, add it to it. My son would not drink the pediasure, but the packets of carnation instant breakfast, gave him extra calories. Also fed him lots of milk shakes, as he would not eat ice cream very well.

My daughter loves chocolate milk.. so I bought vanilla pedisure and used chocolate syrup and she thought she was getting a treat. We've also used carnation instant breakfast packets too. Please check with your doc for professional approval since they should have your child's medical history.

Does he need the it for the nutrience and vitamins along with the calories or just for extra calories? If it's just the calories he needs there is a product called DuoCal that is just a calorie booster, carbs and fat. It's a super soluable flavorless powder that can be added to any moist food or liquid. You can get an Rx from his doc for it so you know how much to give but unfortunatly most insurance co's don't like to pay for it so it is available to order online.

Does your son like ice cream.? I know there like 5-6 different flavors for pedisure. I know my son like pedisure, shakes, ice cream, add whole milk to food , theses where some things we did for him and it help. Now he doesn't have cp but he low muscle tone. I also gave him some of toddler/preschool food by Gerber he loved that. I don't know if these ideas you have tried but this what we found that worked with him.

My daughter needs the extra calories as well. She hates the pediasure. She loves Boost as well as some of the Ensure products. Doctor tells us either is fine as they both heavy on the calories. We sometimes will mix the Boost or Ensure with ice cream. She loves it then!

Without knowing your child's specific nutritional needs, I'm going to take a blind stab at it. Can you mix the pedisure with a fruit, such as banana, apricot, peaches, strawberries, etc to give it a better flavor? One of my favorite things to make because it's nutrional and simple are fruit smoothies. Add yogurt, fruit, instant pudding mix to thickening things up. You may need to speak to a nutritionist as well in order to meet your child's specific needs.
Dont forget that HOW you present food to your children also matter. Stay positive and try not to make it an issue. Some children become resistant just because you demand that they act or do something. Make it a game. Think back to when as a mom you pretended the spoon was an airplane and it landed in your kids mouth.
