My son has autism caused by double chromezone 15. He has severe globall delays & severe behavior problems. Nobody that I know of who has a child with double chromezones. I need someone 2 talk to. Need to find as many resources as possible. If you have any info or questions for me, please feel free. I feel so alone on this. Any advice would be much appriciated. Thank You :)

You are never alone. My son is eight..he was diagnosed at the age of 4 with "classic Autism"...he now seems like a child with ADHD then one with Autism. He is fully funtional with behavioral issues. Remember where there is a will there is a way.

Hi Jennifer, Please be assured that you are not alone, I felt that way for many years, but now realize that there it always someone with worse situations than mine. I have a 30yr old daughter that still lives at home, non-verbal, not toilet trained, and the only diagnosis I have is mental retardation because 30 yrs ago, the word autistic and such was unheard of. You would not believe how many times I heard "she will grow out of it"!! Now, I am not very familiar with the chromosome disorders, but I have had many different types of daily experiences. As you can imagine- some good-some unbelievably horrific!! No matter, she is my daughter, my responsibility, and I will do the best job that I possible can as a parent. That is all that any of us can do. Try to learn as much about your child's condition as possible and never take anyone's word about anything if you as a mother have a gut instinct that what you are told is not going to help your child. I hope I have helped in some small way at least. If you ever need to just talk or "vent", please feel free to contact me at cray31@hotmail.com May God bless you and your family.

This is a website for chromosome disorders that may help you a lot (hopefully). And do you mean he has an extra chromosome 15? Because that would be 3, as everyone is supposed to have 2 (which is double). It will help you to find answers knowing this.

It is very hard dealing with a special needs child, especially if nobody else you know has to deal with anything similar. How old is your son?
