Our daughter was approved for SSI. We are expecting our first payment soon. I was wondering how much of her SSI can be put towards rent and bills? I know that we can only spend it on things that directly affect her, putting a roof over her head is pretty important.
I was asking because currently ALL of our income goes to bills, and we have another daughter. We have help from our parents on caring for them because we don't have much extra money to get them things, which is why the SSI is going to be helpful. My question was are we allowed to put a little bit more of her SSI towards rent and bills so we could free up some of our main income for our other daughter to get her things that SHE needs? I mean literally, all of our money goes to rent and bills. I know we're allowed to put forth some of her SSI towards rent but IDK if putting a little more towards rents so we can get things our other daughter needs without technically spending any of our second daughter's SSI money on her, is okay. Do you know what I mean?
