my son is 6 and has an even more limited diet, he eats pureed baby food and vomits at smells of foods we eat and suspected lumps in food, he sees an OT and speech therapist in an atempt to introduce more foods and we are currently attending a cooking class for kids and they are aware of his aversions and are really helpful, it is def sensory for him too

My son is on the spectrum and has sensory processing as well. He has an aversion to certain foods based on taste, texture, temperature. If it is something he doesn't like he simply won't eat it. I've learned to expand what he eats slowly and reintroduce foods after several months. He has a very limited palate and he takes multivitamins and drinks Carnation instant breakfast with his milk to get added calories. Maybe there is a sensory component to what you are seeing with your son?

Does your child have sensory issues within the mouth, like chewying or swallowing . My daughter has global delays and also has not eaten proper food only this special formula for tube and peg fed babies and children were currently intervention with feeding clinic, speech and OT . like michelle has said seek help.

You need to see if he has sensory issues to other foods. He may need to work with a feeding specialist to help him expand his diet. Feeding specialists are normally speech therapists that specialize in feeding but occupational therapist can address feeding issues and sensory issues also.
