I am looking for help with my 5 1/2 year old daughter. It seems she has sensory processing disorder from what feed back I am getting with bother her physical therapist and occupational therapist. I need the name of a good pediatric neurologist that I could take her to that will give me some kind of diagnosis and stop with the searching for the right doctors. Can anyone help me with this? I would appreciate all the help anyone could give me.

Yep--it is VERY different for each child. Which can be frustrating, because it sometimes seems like there is no easy way to deal with it. I do know that it is gettng better for my son as time goes on--he is "growing into" it as the OT says.

Thank you Alyn, for sending this message. Im still learning a lot about this disorder and it seems to me that each day it effects her differently. I will read those two books and let you know what the neurologist tells me. Christine

My son was diagnosed with SPD 2 years ago when he was 4. The books The Out-of-Sync Child and The Out-of -Sync Child Has Fun by Carol Stock Kranowitz, M.A. are fantastic! I finally ended up at the Easter Seals Childrens Guild for his diagnosis and OT. I am in Oregon and went to OHSU as well. We never had to get a neurologist---I am curious as to what you will find out if you go to one. It is a constant struggle for us, but is MUCH better than it was a few years ago. Good luck
