I have 2 kids. The oldest is four and the youngest is 7 months. About 3 years ago CPS got involved and I ended up giving custody of my oldest son to his father to keep him from going into foster care. Now I live out of state and have no way of visiting him. Since then I had my youngest son Landyn(Who I have been raising on my own without a father). And for some reason I just can 't stop feeling guilty that I don't have both my children. I think I'm doing the right thing, I've been clean for over a year and am starting school this August, but I can't help but feel like a deadbeat mother because I don't have both my children. Anyone else feel this way?

Hi Stephanie,
My situation is not exactly the same but I do understand what is like to have CPS involved in your life and also what it is like to be a sober addict I've been sober 9 months now. I also understand the guilt of not being able to be around one of your children. I have three wonderful children I lost custody of them around mid June last year I was addicted to presciption drugs. I fell asleep with my three year old awake and thank heavens my my father showed up because my son could have gotten hurt. The next day my father reported me. CPS had been in and out of my life for at least 6 months before they took them away and gave them to there father. I was able to have supervised visits at first then eventually unsupervised but I never got to spend as much time with my 3year old as I did my other two children. My heart ached! I get some peace about the whole situation when I talk to my kids on the phone and when I see them ,however little or much that is, I also try to remmeber that God has a plan even though I don't always know what that plan is, and that God care's for my children even more than I do. Try not to allow yourself to feel guilty it's obvious you love both you children! Do you get to talk to your other son? Oh, and congrats on starting school this August!
