My son is constantly sucking on his shirts. I know that it must be a comfort thing for him. But i am also wondering if there is some ocd behavior going on. Should I be worried? Also to point out that my son does have a develomental delay, and speech delay. Maybe that just his way of dealing with his frustrations. Should i get it checked out?

wish i had seen this post earlier..my son also has speech delay,he signs now as a way to communicate but up until we used this method , he constantly was sucking his sleeves or collars making his mouth so chapped in the winter..he still occasionally does the sucking but we have realised its only when in new situations or meeting new people..so its definately,in our opinion a coping mechanism when frustrated or anxious...hope your little one grew out of it..i hope you are still in touch with this site,it would be great to hear how it all worked out .. x

My son did that too...he grew out of it. I think you are right about the frustration thing.
