I lost my daughter 3 yrs. ago in a car accident. She was not only my daughter but my best friend. Every Christmas I try to give something to family and friend in her memory. I am looking for some ideas.

Vicki on the anniversary of my daughters Sarrah's death we plantted a weeping cherry tree in her honor...this year we added a plaque that reads:
If loved
could have
saved you,
You would have
lived forever.

the tree and the plaque are in our yard and it is reasurring to see her tree from the kitchen window every morning!
yesterday (4-19-09) was the anniversary of her death...in the pouring rain we set in the plaque...the temps were warm and that was what kept us going on the day.

I know it's been a while since you made this post, but I just saw it. I have a similar situation. My daughter was killed in a car accident 2 years ago this Thursday. I often get asked what I'm planning on doing that day. I could use some ideas too. I did several things last year and spent a lot of time preparing them. I was trying to involve others but really now just want to do it for myself and close family, her sister and father. I have a small memorial set up in my back yard with a bench, a "Rock Star," a star decorative stake, and some tulips that will soon be blooming pink. She loved stars and pink. Any suggestions or examples from anyone.

Sarah’s Smile

Through all her pain and suffering, it lasted for awhile
She never understood the agony, just laid there with a smile
The deep sadness in my heart for my precious little child
Could only be erased when I picture her sweet smile

Heaven gained an angel, but I lost a sweetheart
Heaven gained an angel, but I lost my child

The Lord Jesus came and took her home, my pain goes on for miles
Forever sketched in my memory will always be, Sarah’s smile

Heaven gained an angel, but I lost my sweetheart
Heaven gained an angel. But I lost my child

God tell her that I love her, sometimes I’m in denial
God tell her that I miss her, forever Sarah’s Smile

I am looking for a poem about having an angel in heaven. It is going to be a part of my Christmas gift that I do each year in memory of my daughter. If anyone has a poem about their angel is in heaven and watching over us please pass it along. God Bless!

Shirley-

Thanks so much for your idea. Everyday is so hard to get through but the holidays are even harder. Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to give me this idea. God Bless!

Last year my husband and I adopted a child for Christmas. Took her to dinner and shopping. The kids in the family were in a very sad situation, so we decided to make them happy for a day. It was money well spent to see the smiles and receive the hugs that special day. This is a very sweet thing you are doing Shelley :) God bless you honey. Prayers for you :)

Blessings, Shirley
