Ok my "freshman" daughter comes home last friday my house looks like it threw up!! And I am doing her wash and picking up after her. She has done this on her own, so why????? Am I the only mom who think that this refilled nest is bitter sweet ♥ I love having her home and sh edoes have a job and did great in school her 1st year YAY. But part of me says I am not your slave, but th eother part loves being needed again ...am I being foolish?
I hear some moms say their kids drifted so sad. Thankfully mine is still my baby I hope this never changes.
Thoughts?

Hi,

She may be your baby but it is so important to NOT do things for her. She is very capable of doing all these things for herself. You are telling her that you don't think she can handle it so Mommy will take care of it.

I understand that you enjoy having her home but believe me, she will see you as her slave even if she doesn't say it.

Go shopping together or out to lunch but don't baby her, she will not grow up!

Hi Linda! As a mom of a now College Senior, all I can tell you is what I did with my girl. Her first summer back, she was told by my husband and I that even though she had 2500 miles away that and we missed her so very much. She still had her chores. I would add some of her clothes to our washing load if we had room but she had to do her own laundry plus this way she didn't lose socks to me.... She was responsible to help in the kitchen and clean up after herself. She worked 2 weeks at a time and sometimes was in and out in 24 hours then I would jump in and help so she could sleep. Being in college is a time for them to grow up and take on the world. But they need to be reminded that they need to help at home too.
