After my 2nd son was stillborn in 2007, they found out I have Factor V Leiden and MTHFR. I just found out I am pregnant and I start Lovenox on Monday. Wondering if anyone has used it before because any information would be greatly appreciated. I am scared, but excited.
Thanks,
Michelle

Thanks so much Mary Beth. I am calling my OB tomorrow to go in for a visit to speak with him about our next plan of care. We'll see what happens. I am going to take my time though with the TTC again. I am so scared it will happen again. :(

Hi Brandy!
There are a lot of blood thinners out there and not all docs agree on treatment. My OB put me on Fragmin which is a once a day shot AND a baby asprin AND folbee (B6 B12 Folic acid in one pill) twice a day. Lovenox seems to be pretty common. Heparin is the next common I hear about. I have the same defect as you. Fragmin is expensive (about $1300 for a 30 day supply)but my insurance covered it as long as I paid my co-pay.
This plan worked really well for me and my daughter is going to be one in 4 days!
Keep looking for the right treatment for you! Also, dont be afraid to shop around on Doctors. Find one that agrees with you and is willing to work with you possible send you to a perinatologist or other specialist.

Best Wishes!

Hi Michelle. I have MTHFR as well. Heterozygous A&C. I have 1 daughter who will be 3 years old soon, after my 2nd loss I was diagnosed with the MTHFR. So this last pregnancy...on the day I found out I was pregnant I began my Lovenox injections. Within a few days.......I miscarried again. When did each of you begin your injections if you needed them??? I am just wondering what other treatments are available.

Hi Michelle!

I have been one of the VERY lucky ones that found out about my MTHFR before loosing any precious angels. I was diagnosed with a mutation of the C677T and A1298c when I was 8wks pregnant. That makes me Compound Heterozygous. Do you know what you are?

My OB put me on Foltx(2x a day), 1 baby asprin (1x a day), and Fragmin injections (1x a day). This was a tough regimin to get used to at first but it got easier after a few weeks. I went on Heprin twice a day at week 37. The doc put me in the hospital that week and I had my daughter. She was a tiny little thing at 6lb 3oz. BUT she is surviving and thriving like crazy now. She's almost 5 months old. :o) Have you ever been on blood thinners? I would let your partner read the insert to the Rx, but not tell you what the side effects are so you don't "create" them in your head. The Fragmin gave me a little nausea at first, but it went away quickly. I hope to hear more from you soon! Keep us updated and post pics when your little one gets here!
