we just bought rylan his first with training wheels for christmas and he is riding the heck out of it..its a cars bike we got like 40 bucks at kmart, she may be able to reach the pedals, or you can adjust the seat.

That's about the same size as Gabe, he's a hair under 35 inches tall and he has size 7 feet. You should check out the radio flyer trikes April :)

I didn't get Zach one for his birthday because i figured he wouldn't be able to ride it in the snow/ice. Gonna try in the spring around Eliza's birthday. He's tried to ride a friend's trike and his feet don't touch. He's pretty tall too. 34 inches tall and size 7 feet. I figure he should be physically big enough by Mayish/June when he'll be 2.5

Gabriel got his first trike for Christmas and he loves it. It's the Radio Flyer one, the pedals are pretty close to the seat so he has no trouble reaching them. He likes watching kids ride their bikes but he has no interest of getting on one yet.

One of his friends though, she's 2 months older than Gabe and she was riding a 2 wheeler with training wheels this summer with no problems.

I got one of those indestructible cameras for kids last year for my (at the time 1 year old).. still haven't passed it on yet, I doubt she'd be able to use it yet, but this summer i'm hoping to get out with the girls on bike (the 2 in the trailer and me pedaling) I may try her on a bike with training wheels this summer as well, just because i'm ambitious, but I doubt she'll be able to manage at 2.5 years... Maybe i'll try one out first...

She has TWO hand-me-down tricycles. She can't really ride them. I think it's the position of the pedals though...out in front, hard to pedal. However, she tried to ride an 18 inch bike and was having better luck pedaling (I was balancing her!). She could barely reach the pedals, but she seemed more at ease with this than with the tricycle. I think I'll just take her to the store, and see if they'll let her try out a 12 inch. I'm not expecting her to automatically "get it." But I don't want to waste my money on something that she won't be able to do for a while. Just a thought...the other thing I have in mind is one of those indestructible cameras for kids. She'd probably use that more anyway!

lucas still can't figure out ow to pedal, lol! my other 2 were pedaling their bikes before or at age 3. three is a good year to start i think.

What kind of bike does she have now? Have you tried a larger tricycle? I can't even get Issy to ride a baby bike, she freaks every time I take her near one. I bought her one for her birthday and a different one for Christmas, has never touched them. I would probably wait until she is physically big enough to hop on and off the bike herself otherwise it could be dangerous.

The girls got their first bikes for their 3rd bday (the 12 incher) and were able to ride them.

My son got a bike Christmas 2009, but it's a super tiny one for ages 1.5-3.... he couldn't use the pedals for several months though, but now he's a pro.
