Haha! I'm sure some of you already think I am so maybe this won't come as too much of a shock?!!

Roxanne is out with my MIL right now and I'm going insane, sitting here waiting for them to get back. I miss her (Roxanne, not my MIL, although I'm quite fond of her!) and I've only ever been away from her a handful of times because I was busy or I needed someone to watch her.....not because someone has just wanted to spend alone time with her! I think a huge part of why I'm so anxious is because it's the first time my MIL has taken her anywhere in HER vehicle and I don't think she's a very good driver! lmao...

I dunno, it's 11:30 now and they're supposed to be back....maybe they were in an accident? LOL! Just kidding....but seriously, that's the kind of stuff I think about. I've been consumed with morbid thoughts for the past hour and a half.....am I just nuts or is anyone else like this?

Teresa I'm sorry to hear about your dad...sounds very similar to my in-laws but the thing is he should be giving you the support even more now you're single, yes you do a great job with your children but every mammy deserves some freetime to get her nails done or simply have a nice bath =]

Oh, and my mom lives 3000 miles away, but is a more involved grandparent than my dad usually is..... :(

Rambling is good.... since I'm about to do it. ;)

My dad lives 15 minutes away from us and pretty much the only time we see him is if I make ALL the effort... which I still do since the kids adore him, but it's hard. He's much more involved in my stepniece than in my kids. I know that's cuz my stepsister was a single teen mom and living w/ them til just a couple months ago (and my niece is 5.5 now), but I'm single now too and my dad has only watched my son 2-3 times in his lifetime....

Ramble away....*giggles*

It's sad when families don't get to see much of each other.....I have a similar situation with my Bapka (grandmother in Polish)....so, my daughter's great grandmother.....she's still in extremely good health but unfortunately we don't see much of her even though she only lives 10 mins away. I never saw much of her growing up either....some things just don't change I guess?!

=] You're not rambling hehe it's nice to know about how other people's families help out. My mam drives and it takes 15-20 mins to get to our house and we see her at least once a week. Yes Steven's parents don;t drive but the bus from there's to ours takes only 20-25 mins and we see them once every 2 months if we're lucky. We're never invited over to theirs either whereas my mam usually has Sunday tea quite often. My dad lives miles away from us down the south of the country so I don;t expect him to come up very often but what's funny is that he's seen Logan more than the in-laws!!! I think it sometimes depends on what your parents did because Steven hardly ever saw his mam's parents so I think she's mimicing that behaviour if you know what I mean. Obviously that isn't always continued as I know for a fine fact any grandchild we have will be spoilt rotten and we'll see them as much as we can! FIL works away and is only home occasionally so I've even asked if the MIL wants to come over for coffee to see Logan as her 2 youngest (Steven's 2 sisters) are in school all day and his brother who's 18 is working, and still she isn't bothered! Nevermind, it's them who are missing out on seeing Logan and he has plenty of love from the people he does see =D...who's rambling now lmao

Awww, thanks Jennifer....I know that I'm exceptionally lucky! Both families are extremely involved. More so my family because we see them typically 5-6 days out of a week. We see my in-laws (mostly just my MIL because my FIL is anti-social so unless we go to their house we don't see him as much) 2-3 times a week. They live about a half hour drive away but my MIL works in the city where we live so she often stops by before or after work!

I'm rambling...

Dana enjoy the peace you can ahve when your MIL has her =] You're lucky...my MIL doesn't take much of an interest in Logan...well except by asking how he is on the phone. Luckily my mam is actually a good nana and mam.

Haha! Thanks Ladies.....my MIL is awesome! Just for the record she's does see Roxanne OFTEN....this is just the first time I've let her take her alone in her car. That's what made me the most nervous!

It is nice that your MIL wants to give you a break and the fact that she has arranged to do it next week is brilliant - you do a great job as a mummy and you deserve the break from it for a few hours!............Enjoy it xxx

The first time my MIL took my son out for a walk he was just a few weeks old - she had come to stay with us and thought she would give me a little break by taking him out for a while - I was really nervous as well. Then I was standing at the sink doing the dishes when I saw her walk right past the house and keep going - she had forgotten which house was ours!!! I think maybe I had cause to be nervous lol!!!

Thank ladies.....

I think I almost had a heart attack when they didn't show up till after noon.....I pictured my MIL driving around in circles TRYING to find her way back to our house! lmao....she's THAT bad of a driver! Oh well, they got back safely.....Roxanne had lunch and seemed super excited but EXTREMELY tired (they went to a local park and were there for the entire hour and a half) so she's napping now!

I've already made arrangements with my MIL to take her again next week! Baby steps, right?!!

You are normal! My MIL lives out of town, but when she comes home, she wants Eliza and her other grandchildren at her house (she owns a house here). At first, I look forward to having my alone time. But after a few hours, I get Eliza sick! I want to see her!

It is a total normal feeling Dana............I still miss my kids when they are out with their friends, probably not quite as much as you are missing Roxanne, but then my kids are now 18 and 14!! lol
My kids used to go to their grandparents when they were little just to give me a break, but i used to look forward for them coming home and yes the same thoughts about accidents used to go through my head and still do if they go out in anyone elses car!!

All your feelings are normal xxxx

I was like that the first few times I left my son with anybody. Actually, it was a few months after I started working when I lowered the number of phone calls to check on them from about 4 to 2... and I only worked a 4-hour shift! I completely understand, and it WILL get a little bit better each time this happens.
