I think the question should be: Brushing your hair, every day or for special occasions?? Even if I did decide to make the effort to cover up the bags under my eyes with some makeup, it's so freaking hot in Hong Kong that it would melt off my face as soon as I step outside. Sigh. Sometimes I frighten myself when I walk past a reflective window... my poor husband.

It has to be a pretty special occasion for me to put on make-up these days....LOL! I normally prefer a lil' make-up.....mascara and some lip gloss but have NEVER been one to get all made up.....I did wear fake eyelashes and have some pretty extreme make-up once but that was for a friends wedding; I was a bridesmaid! I couldn't stand having all that crap on my face and spent a lot of the evening wishing I could go home and wash it off! LOL!

For work I wear a tinted moisturizer, a bit of powder on my t-zone, a light eye shadow, brow gel, mascara (and lash curler), and some nude lipstick. It's nothing complicated, but at least helps me look awake and polished. I wash and straighten my hair every Sunday evening, so during the week I just have to brush out any tangles and fluff it up a bit. When my hair gets a little longer, I'm going to do an at-home Japanese thermal straightening treatment, so that'll save me that time on Sundays -- I'll be able to just wash and dry it, and it'll be straight.

when i take my son to school i dont bother with make up, im not going there to impress anyone. i dont wear make up all day and everyday, its not good for skin to wear it that much!
ive always wanted to go out clubbing with no make up on and see how much attention i get then lol

but if i go out for a meal or a doo then i do make an effort!

The 14th is actually my Nana's birthday, and my cousin's birthday too! I can't have her on the 14th though, my mom won't be here until the 15th. I want to wait until after she's here. LOL! (I'm being a baby... this is our first so I think I'm allowed, and if not well I'm hormonal so I'm doing it anyway... LOL!)

That's too cute!! My birthday is falling on Memorial day this year (the 31st of May). It doesn't happen often. I have no cute stories about that though.

I do have one about when I was younger, I used to have carrot top red hair - it kinda went auburn on me since I started staying indoors more often - and I'd get picked on for the red hair and the mass freckles. My mom used to tell me that other kids were jealous because I'd been kissed by so many angels and they hadn't. (Freckles were supposedly angel kisses... lol) So if little Mina winds up with all the freckles, I'm gonna tell her the same thing. =)

I made a lot of kids mad the next day at school with that one... lol!

i just use the foundation, def. have to use the soft focus finish, and the blush and bronzer (i never used one before, but decided to try it, and i love it). i havn't found a color that i like in their eyeshadow, or else i'd try that.

you should definitely go for having her on the 14th-it's my birthday, and flag day, a great holiday!! lol! when i was young my mom told me everybody put out their flags for me cause it was my birthday!

She's due June 19th according to the OB, but the tech who did our ultrasound said she's due the 21st then he said the 27th. lol. So somewhere between the 19th and the 27th. Hubby is hoping (and praying to the Gods - literally lol) for the 21st. It's the longest day of the year apparently, and the beginning of the Summer Solstice. It would be wonderful to him if she's born on that day, though honestly he's just happy she's coming... it'd just be an added perk. I keep telling him that I'm sure that any day she's born is going to feel like the longest day ever - labor and all. LOL!



I'm definitely going to check in to Loreal's version of the mineral make up. I use some of the tru blend liquid foundation (covergirl I believe) right now, and it works okay, I just hate feeling like the liquid stuff is going to sweat off my face in the heat. Not to mention like it's caked on. ugh. (Plus the make up line - or making sure there isn't one.) And I need it for a work function of his... that's the only time I bother anymore. lol.



Thanks for the tip on Loreal, I'm glad to know it doesn't take so long. Do you use the mineral eyeshadow and the whole line? Or is it just the foundation?

Make-up is an every day thing for me if I'm going out in public somewhere. I hate how I look without it, and it's become part of my daily routine. That being said, I will run my son over to his in-home daycare (the lady lives in the same survey as I do) without putting make up on, and I will also venture out to Tim Hortons or the store down the street. However... if I'm going to the mall, to school, to work, or to see any one of my friends I always put make-up on. I also straighten my hair every day.

mineral powders have better coverage but feels like your wearing nothing at all , liquid foundations make me feel like im wearing a mask .

no, it doesn't take long at all, actually. it takes less time for me than regular liquid foundation. it blends in soooo easily, and so for me it takes less time because i'm not constantly trying to fix the eternal "makeup line" that you get from liquid. i'm seriously done with my makeup routine (all of it, not just foundation) in less than 10 minutes, maybe even less than 5-i'll have to time myself tomorrow-lol! and it feels so good on, not cakey or anything, it feels like my skin can breathe-and looks like it too. i don't know how to explain it, but it's tons better than liquid makeup.

once your baby is born you aren't going to have time for a shower let alone makeup, lol!! but once you get into some sort of normalcy and figure things out you should really try it. when is mina due?

I would simply shrivel up and die in a fuzz ball of hair without my GHD , so expensive but so worth the money especially for my super curly islander hair !

LOVE my GHD hair straightners, that's the one thing I could not live without - I'm on about my third pair. I've found my shade of lipsick that I love and it's the one I always use although more often I'll wear lip gloss. I'll be gutted if Boots evr stop makng it though.

Suzette, don't feel bad. When I was pregnant, I was too sick to even think about makeup. All I cared about was that I was able to get my rear out the door w/o vomiting 20 times.

I use a fine powder with an all natural brush , the brush makes all the difference , i use Jane ciredale its pricey but the best ive used so far , it takes me a minute or two to throw on , i use a 30 + moisturizer underneath it too , it helps the powder to settle or alternatively spray a fine mist of water on top .

Nude by nature was another good brand i used previously in mineral make up .

Special ocassions here! I used to be like other women and wear it ALL the time, I wouldn't leave the house without it. Then I got pregnant and I've been in so much pain, feeling crappy and tired, that I just said "to hell with it!" I know that sounds bad, but it's true.

It's not like I leave the house looking like crap, though my face does look washed out since I'm so pale, I have blemishes from the pregnancy (not all over but at least one or two), and I look tired. I swear I need to find something that will correct what circles I'm getting under my eyes. :(

I'm sure if I took the 30 minutes to make myself up, I'd feel a little better, but I just don't have the energy. lol. Besides, I feel like I look pretty good when I get dressed. (Most of the time) Hopefully after my little one is born I'll be more apt to putting on my face sometimes. :)

I'm really interested in trying mineral make up though, I tried the physicians formula and found that it kinda just caked on with the foundation. :( I was so disappointed as I can't really afford bare minerals, least not the last time I checked.

I tend to wear natural shades being that I'm so fair skinned with auburn hair. The only thing you can tell that I'm wearing is eyeliner, and I'm not sure that I need it ... ha! and I have no idea what shade of lipstick is good... hell I probably need to see someone who knows more about make up than me. And no idea where to go for that... so sad!

Every time I leave the house, I'm wearing makeup. Face (either foundation or powder or both with just the powder to set the foundation), under eye concealer/spot concealer, I put my eyebrows on (I have really blonde eyebrows, so I always put on brow pencil), I use mascara, a little blush/bronzer if I need it but usually I don't and either lip balm, lipliner, lipstick and lipgloss, lip balm and lipstick or just lip balm and lipgloss. And once in a while I do eyeshadow.. I have a HUGE collection of makeup. My sister started doing my makeup when I was like.. 13 (in our house we weren't allowed to wear any makeup until 16 and between 16 & 18 we were only allowed to wear natural makeup.. But makeovers that stayed indoors were allowed). Anyway, I've been a makeup fiend ever since. She created a monster :)



Every once in a while I use mineral makeup. I have a few different kinds. Sometimes they can be a pain though since I don't use them regularly.

Every morning i use Mascara , eye liner , and my mineral make up powder , lip gloss and my 30+ sunscreen every week i straighten my hair with my GHD it takes around 5 mins to do put on my make up ..

I feel good when i look good , i like to look nice for the day .

Mineral makeup is so amazing. So fast and flawless. I haven't used it in a while and my skin looks like crap. I tried bare minerals because I couldn't believe the commercials and I feel the need to try everything, WOW. They aren't lying.

Going to work I generally wear eye makeup only. I'm to busy to fuss with the full face and my natural skin tone is nice enough and helps cut down on breakouts.

There are two girlsat my work who are always PERFECTLY made up. hours spent with their hair & face, lol I'm going to ask one of them to teach me how to use mineral makeup.

I don't where make up unless im going out out.

My make up bag consists of Moisturiser with SPF15, Mascara, one little eye-shadow plate with 3 browns in it, and some lip ice.

Im not really a girly girl so have never really been into make up, i don't own nail polish ether as i cant paint my nails to save my life the last time i tried a woman commented on how sweet it was i let my daughter paint them for me (she had'nt i had l) lol

Im a make up girl, everyday with out fail lol I do foundation, mascara, bronzer and lippy an i can have it nailed in under 5 minutes :)
If im going out than i like to do smokey eyes i love make up i want to really get into doing stage makeup after i finish with dancing.

I wear makeup about every other day. I have very sensitive skin and if I wear it everyday my skin goes all to hell (then I need to wear more make; it's a vicious circle lol) If I am working I always wear my makeup, even if it is only foundation, mascara and lipstick/lipstain. I LOVE lip colour; I have about 12 shades of red alone lol. Thankfully if you wear bright lips you can get away with minimum "other". If it's a night out I go crazy, foundation, mascara, eyeliner, 3 shades of eyeshadow, fake eyelashes, blush, lip liner, lipstick. I just cut 8 inches off my hair so now my hair is very easy to do lol. If I had a curling iron that actually worked I would curl the one side that always flips out. As it is I just brush it and stick a funky hair clip in.

always have makeup on. i do not feel right without it on. it kindof goes along with that feel good outfit that makes you feel good. well my feel good thing is makeup. it takes 10 min. tops and i do it all, foundation, powder, blush, bronzer, eyeshadow (3 diff. colors), eyeliner, curl my eyelashes and mascara, and lipstick.

it wakes me up. if i don't do it, it's like i can't seem to function without feeling completely tired and ragged. it's really weird, but it affects how energized i am.

I just recently (in the last two weeks) started wearing make-up every time I leave the house. Before that, I had worn it maybe 6 times in 3 years... which sounds pretty odd because I used to sell Mary Kay (after that, I took a long break from wearing it)! I know once the new baby comes I'm going to be back to my old self, so I want to look (or at least feel like I look) pretty for now. I can't imagine what I'll look like when my kids go to school... probably either really pretty or "holy cow, what was that mess".

i have short hair, so all I have to do is run a brush through it and I'm good to go. Make up, I can't be bothered with it. I use it for special occasions and they have to be pretty special occasions. I'm a natural girl :)

At the very least i will have foundation and mascara.
I never bother with lipstick though.

I usually straighten my hair too. If i'm going to work, i have to tie it back so i just do the front bits. :)

My hair is curly so I just put a bit of mousse in it and let it air dry. Easy. I do put a little makeup on everyday, unless I just don't leave the house at all that day. But it takes less than 5 minutes to apply.

Now going out is a different story. I might actually take an hour on my hair trying to straighten it and put the makeup on thick.

I have just been on holidays, we went to go out to dinner I got my liquid foundation out of my toiletries bag and it had completely dried up, it was like a brick! So no, I no longer wear wear it everyday, I used to, I wouldn't leave the house without a full face of make up and immaculate pressed clothes, it's kinda liberating wearing your PJ's until 3pm and not having to apply make up every day.

LMAO Gillian, I remember a few mornings running my son to school while still in my PJs and slippers. I just threw a jacket on over the top, and dropped him in the drop off area (he was about 8 at the time) and no-one knew any different. I would have been SOOOOOO embarrassed if my car broke down on the way (I actually do know someone that did happen to).



But honestly, I find I rarely wear makeup these days. Generally only if I am going out. I don't feel bad about it. I am lucky I have dark lashes anyway, so basically, I just focus on getting my hair tame and actually getting dressed, LOL.



Back in the days when I had a full time job outside the home, I used to do it!! I'd have the immaculate business suit, the make up, the hair, and my son all organised for school with his lunch, etc. His school was near my work, so I'd drop him off at about 8:45am and be at work by 9am, and so on. I don't know how I did it either!!!! But at the time I didn't have a husband and I only had one child, and I barely slept, LOL.
