My husband lost his wedding ring...

We were out doing touristy things today because my sister-in-law is in town. For some reason I looked for my husband's wedding ring while he was paying for us to go on a tour of a ranch. It wasn't there. I mouthed to him "where is your ring?" I'll tell you later, he says. So when the lady walked away I asked him again. Not only did he lose his wedding ring, but he lost it almost 4 months ago. We went home for a visit for my daughter's first birthday and baptism. He lost the ring there. It's in his mom's yard God knows where. He says it must've slipped off. I'm so crushed. I'm upset that he lost it, but what's worse is that he hid it from me for four months. I'm really mad that he didn't tell me when it happened because I feel like at least we could've had a ton of people looking for it. He only told his brothers and he says they looked for it, but we could have had multiple metal detectors and retraced his steps. Now I know there's no hope. If it was in the yard it's been eaten up by the mower.

Honestly, I wish he had just gone out and bought a new one and never told me. Now every time I look at his replacement ring (that he still doesn't have) I'm going to think about how that's not the ring I gave to him on our wedding day. I'm wondering what his plan was. I guess he was just hoping I would never notice. I feel like an idiot for not noticing. His brothers knew when it happened and several of his co-workers know. We even celebrated our 3rd anniversary in June and I didn't notice that my husband didn't have his wedding ring. Just needed to vent.

We took my ring in to be resized after my first pregnancy and the store got held up a week later right after it was resized.. My ring was stolen and I was soooo upset. They replaced it and had another one made the exact same thing, btu i'll never forget it.. I haven't worn mine in a while, I have some pounds to lose and it's tight..

It's good to know I'm not alone! lol. My dad (he's a farmer) always takes his ring off for work and he's still got the same one. The price of gold has gone up since my husband and I bought his wedding band so his new one is going to be about $100 more. That's what he gets for losing it!

My husband is on his 4th I think, he is hopeless! Admittedly he has to take it off for work, but you would think after the first time he would have found a safe hiding place!

Haha! At least he fished it out of the toilet. You could probably get a jeweler to repair the crack. Or you could use the same gold to make a new one. I caught my ring on our fence a few weeks ago and bent the head bad. I'm glad I don't really get into "signs" because I would think that our marriage was doomed. lol. I'm picking my ring up tomorrow. I hate not having it (but at least I know where it is ;) ).

Oh no!! I know what you mean about feeling like it's not the same ring that you gave him on your wedding day. Seems less special somehow. My husband split his ring in half working! It started out as a small crack, then a BIG crack. He's still wearing it though! He even dropped it down the toilet! I am all for getting a new one! I'm thinking I might secretly buy him a new one and do something special to give it to him. Nothing public, just us. And baby of course hehe.
Hope you guys sort it out!

Thanks, Laura. I guess his brother has been doing that. His mom's yard is sooo big so I'm pretty sure it's gone for good. I even went back and looked at pictures to see where the last place was that he had it on and they already searched there. The only place they weren't sure about was when he went for a walk in the woods with his younger brother. My sister-in-law is going to see if they've looked back there. It will be a miracle if it's found. Maybe it will turn up some time down the road.

I think you should still try the metal detectors in the back yard...the lawn mower doesn't reach all the way to the dirt...there's still plenty of chances that it's still out there.

Sorry, good luck

Yeah. He suggested doing something small maybe just us two and our daughter. Just to have his new ring blessed and have me give it to him again. We'll see.

Awww Sara, I'm sorry. =( That sucks. Perhaps you could have some sort of "ring replacement ceremony" kind of like a vow renewal. Not the same, I know.
