Okay, so I'd never heard of it until a recent episode of Rachel Ray. Then I found some at a Farmer's Market and bought it. I found directions online on how to cook it. It was easy to cook and make "spaghetti-like" but after that, I don't know what to do with it. Tonight I mixed it with butter, Parmesan cheese and salt and pepper. It was okay. I liked the taste and texture, but it was pretty boring. Anybody ever cooked with it? Do you have a good recipe?

Lol it's so wierd that in the Uk we have completely different names for things! A zuchinni?!? Definately courgette to me and never heard or a spaghetti squash. I love butternut squash and some other type of squash but never came across a spaghetti one...you indeed learn a new thing everyday =]

Mmmm. I love zuchini squash. I love to cut it up into 1 inch by about .5 inch rectangles and cook it in soy sauce. I then mix it with boneless/skinless chicken breast and some rice...delicious and quick dinner!

I haven't had spaghetti squash. I'll have to pick some up though :)

The other strange one is eggplant - for years reading American books I never knew what that was but now I know it's aubergine!!

I love zucchini (aka courgette...). Should look into this squash business! Although, I went to my friendly local supermarket the other day intending to buy a sweet potato for Baylee to try and came home only to find I'd bought a MASSIVE carrot... doesn't help that it's all labelled in Chinese. Who knew carrots could get that big??

Squash is different from speggetti squash. regular squash, I slice, dip in egg and flour, salt & pepper and fry it in a lil olive oil. MMMmmmMMM :P

Squash isn't a big thing in the UK - in fact squash genarally means a concentrated juice you dilute with water - our biggest miss when we lived in America - butternut squash has only really taken off here in the last few years and you only generaly see pumpkins around halloween. This one sounds interesting I'll need to look out for it in the supermarket.

I've had it once er twice and I don't really care for it. I made just like you did. It's ok as a side dish.

You've got to be kidding me! I don't think I know anyone that doesn't know what a spaghetti squash is :)

Yes, I actually LOVE spaghetti squash when dieting.. Great diet food. Other than that, I want the real deal lol..

I use it just like I would spaghetti. I don't know what directions you have are (I've seen a few different ways to do it) so I'll just go by the steps I use.

-Preheat the oven to whatever temp your directions tell you (haha, sorry I can't remember if it's 350 or 400?)

-Wash the squash wish just a dab of dish soap and lukewarm water (you don't have to, but I wash any fruit/vegetable that I'll be eating/cutting into).

-Cut the squash in half lengthwise.

-Place on baking sheet, cut side up; Bake until fork-tender.

-Run a fork through the squash so it looks like spaghetti.

WHILE SQUASH IS BAKING, PREPARE SAUCE!

I actually have a family recipe for homemade tomato-based sauce that I cannot share, but you can use canned/jarred sauce just the same or you can invent your own. Whichever you prefer. Heat the sauce and add forked squash to the spaghetti sauce. I also like to add meatballs to it, too. Turkey meatballs are good to add if you're doing low-fat, or just use 98% lean ground beef in your meatballs. Both are yummy. Hope this helped! Good luck!!!

Eh, my dad used to cook it when I was a kid. He prepped it like you did with the parmesan and the butter. It was alright, but probably because I love parmesan cheese mixed with anything.

Here's a link to a recipe using it from my favorite cooking magazine, Cooking Light. I think I'll have to pick some up at the farmer's market & try it too.

It's a type of squash that when cooked and forked, will string up like spaghetti.

Yeah, I'd never heard of it until recently, but I like it. Or the idea of it at least. I really would like to know some tasty ways to prepare it!
