to get the ball rolling again

[deleted account] ( 17 moms have responded )

I don't know about you, but this was my FAVORITE community! Let's get the ball rolling again. Tell me the MOST exciting thing that has happened to you within the past 6 months. Let's catch up with each other!

My most exciting thing: finding out I'm pregnant! My baby is due March 18. It's a boy. Not "officially" because we are not finding out the gender! But I KNOW...ya know? His name is Gabriel. On the very unlikely chance that I'm wrong, her name will be Jaycee (Jacey, Jaycie, Jaycey?) or Holly.

What about you? What's going on in your life?

Kati, wow that's a lot of stuff going on in your little family. I hope your surgery worked, sorry I somehow missed that you were doing that!

Quite honestly, I've been a little worried about speech too. Eliza will speak in complete sentences, and I can understand most of what she says, but she seems to have a hard time forming words. She'll point instead of using a word if she can get away with it. When she's around other children her age I notice it more. I asked a speech therapist friend of mine (in an email) and she said not to worry until she's three. So I'm just going to wait until her three year check-up unless we go to the doctor for something before that time.

I hope it starts to help him soon! I was going to wait til my son's 3 year check up, but brought him in for an unrelated event and figured I'd just kill 2 birds w/ one stone. Good thing I did since I've got to wait so long to get any medical specialist stuff done. The people that do the hearing checks only come once a month....

he's 3 1/2 teresa. grant didn't talk much till he was 3 and then his language just exploded, so i figured lucas would be the same. i've been waiting and waiting, and while it has improved, it just isn't good enough. he still says alot of things i just cannot understand. most people can't understand him either.

[deleted account]

Kati, how old is Lucas? My 2.5 year old is SO hard to understand. I'm pretty sure his hearing is fine, but since that's the first step to rule out in speech... Unfortunately we can't get that tested til December 22. THEN we can get his speech evaluated.

same old stuff here. vinnie started kindergarted, and his teacher is AMAZING!! he loves going to school, it's so nice. grant was once diagnosed with PDD high functioning autism, but they still wanted to have him see someone else. well he saw that person finally, and she diagnosed him with social anxiety disorder. getting him figured out is very frustrating. as i don't quite believe that it's only social anxiety disorder. they want him on zoloft which we started last week, but now i'm starting to doubt that it will be more helpful than harmful and i'm thinking of taking him off of it. it's very confusing. :(
lucas is mostly potty trained, except at night. he started speech therapy on wednesday. he hears fine, thank goodness. but he just can't talk to well yet. he tries, but he just can't make the sounds correctly. hopefully that will start to work!!
i had uterine surgery just last wednesday as well. (i'm a great scheduler aren't i, lol) . basically they burned thelining of my uterus so i don't have crazy heavy, long periods. i'm still a bit wiped from it, but i am feeling better!! we'll find out in a a couple months if it worked.
that's about it!! glad mummy chat is back, it was my fav community as well!!

Not too much exciting for me...

The girls gymnastics coach invited them to join the pre-team at the end of summer. They are loving it and I'm extremely thankful that my mom is willing to pay for it. :)

Speaking of my mom... She hasn't been here since May, but will be coming for 6 days next month. I'm really looking forward to having an extra pair of hands around here for a few days. This is the longest she hasn't come since my son was born. I miss having her come every 2-4 months, but she has a new job now and can't get away as often.

I was supposed to get my GED in September, but my son had a 102 temp the day before the test. Rescheduled for the last couple of days in November.

Hmmm well 2 months ago i felt myself falling back into depression after having some medical problems, so i took a trip to the other side of the country to have some time on my own with my cousin, just to party and have fun and act like 21 year olds for a change, and it did the world of good!

It was my 22nd birthday on the weekend and all my mates got together and through me a party that went for 3 days and almost killed me lol but it just helped to show that they are all still here for me when i need them most.

Its spring here in oz and today it was 30 degrees/c and was hot, its going to be a very hot summer again. Last year it got to 47 :O! lol too hot!

My little man is all toilet trained (not at night yet though) and has now almost out grown all of his dairy allergies :)

Glad mummys are back in this group!

It's great to hear everyone is doing so well, and Jackie best wishes to you

In the past 6 months, I gave birth to a little girl (on July 12), and my little boy turned 3 (on July 24). My little girl is showing signs of teething already, and my boy is potty training. Kinda hard to get the kids on any type of schedule at the moment, so it's pretty much crazy at my house when my husband's at work. I am also trying to clean out our apartment (which is too small for our new family size) and get rid of everything that we don't use that takes up room that we don't have.

On the exciting side, I am looking forward to this weekend. The Indiana Transportation Museum (train museum) is down the road from my mother's house, so we are going to take the train to their pumpkin patch. My son LOVES trains, so I can't wait to see what he thinks of riding in one! I also love trains, so at least I know one person will have a good time (he he).

Congrats to everybody... even Jackie. It's very difficult to leave bad relationships, and it takes a lot of courage to work on any "issues" with an ex. Good luck.

We're thinking of moving from California to near Brisbane, Australia. My hubby's best friend from childhood recently moved there with her family (she had dual citizenship because her mom is a citizen of Australia and her dad is a citizen of America). Her brother and dad opened a painting business over there and are willing to give my hubby a work visa plus our friend is going to try to get me a job at her office so I can have a work visa as well. :)

Congrats on getting published Wanda! I'm slowly working on my own writing, but I don't have a lot of time for it lately!

I love Mommy Chat, I'm glad it'sback.

I've been taking an online course in freelance writing and have had my first piece published (I'm a guest contributor on a site called and I'll be doing a series on having a preemie, the first part was posted today). If you want to see it here's the link

My grandfather passed away and we all flew home for the funeral. It was nice to get home (Nova Scotia) even if it wasn't under the best of circumstances.

Other than that things have been pretty much status quo.

Congrats to Sara, Sarah and Amber

Holly, which country?

Jackie ((hugs))

Jocelyn I'll definately check your business out

We had 2 birthdays - our oldest turned 8 in September and our middle daughter turned 3 last week.

We've been considering a lot of life options (one of which includes a move to another country...).

We've found out we're NOT pregnant (lol) and we have taken steps to assure we won't be again (very exciting for me since I've gotten pregnant on a couple different birth controls...).

Sara: LOVE the name Holly! :P I honeslty hated it when I was younger (I wanted everyone to call me by my middle name for a couple years there...), but I have grown to love it! Just be prepared for people to constantly ask if she was born around Christmas, even when she's still young enough to kinda tell that she obviously wasn't... lol

Amber: Congrats on graduating!!! I am thisclose myself and it is soo exciting!!!

Jackie: I'm thinking of you hun! ::hugs::

Sarah: I remember when I was in school to be a teacher and I took the teaching assistant course as well - I loved it and I had so much fun! Have a great time and enjoy it!

Jocelyn: Congrats on your business! I'll have to take a look... :D

My baby girl turned one year old the other week!!!!

Lol, ok well surprisingly I didn't cry like I thought I was going too :P

We adopted a dog, Kila. She's a small(ish--70lbs) pitbull, and she's WONDERFUL with the kids.

Conner has been diagnosed PDD-NOS high functioning autism. Hearing that diagnosis was both a relief (no we know what's wrong) but still really hard to deal with. I've been doing a lot of crying.

Conner has also started preschool (with a full time aid) and LOVES it.

I finally got my little business up and running and even had my first sale last week! (Thanks Krista H!) If you're interested--

DH finally has a job that he likes! Building cabinets.

I am still bar tending at the neighborhood bar and last week I had some drunk girl shoving $20's down my shirt LOL

Ooooh, glad Mummy Chat is back in action!

I've started my Teaching Assistant course now, so I'm BUSY!! On top of my 4 days at work, I now do one day helping out (volunteering) at a local Primary School and one evening at college. Plus all the bloody assignments I have to do!! Still, had my first lot of work back and seems I'm doing pretty well! Yay!!

My childminder is moving to Dubai!!! So Shia (my youngest) is starting at a nursery in 2 weeks. Bit nervous, but the nursery is lovely and my friends little boy goes there, so should be ok.

@Sara: Congratulations!!!!

@Amber: Well done!!!!

@Jackie: Thst sucks :( Hope you're ok xxx

Well, lets see...

i recently found out the my boyfriend of 51/2 years (and Allison's Dad) was having an inappropriate relationship with a girl at work and I left him him. Our relationship has been very rocky for the last 2 years or so. I was not dumb or niave enough to think that I didn't somehow push him to that. We have since made strides to rebuild a relationship that hasn't been there for a very long time.
It made us both see whats really important. I'm still bitter though and it's going to take some healing.

Allison is 20 months old and I signed her up for a Dynamic Duo gymnastics class where I help teach her. We both love it and it wears her down enough that she has a great afternoon nap. Thank goodness.

Not much else is going on.. I would like to hear what everyone else is up to

My son turned 4 yesterday :) And he's very excited about it.
And tonight I was inducted into an International Honor Society at my college! I'm very happy that hard work finally paid off. Plus, I filled out my graduation application and only have a couple months left of college.
We're also life is a little crazy. But we booked a vacation to Costa Rica for my graduation present that should help us unwind :) My hunny is great!
