My son is about to turn 2. I'm running out of ideas on gifts, I usually buy things recommended for the next age up. What do you think is a good gift for a 2 year old?

So far a tricycle is the only thing I have in mind. I think one grandparent wants to get him a little swing set. I think the other grandparents are considering a small swimming pool. So now I'm out of ideas lol. I haven't gotten him a lot of outdoor play stuff, so that's what I've been leaning toward. I've also thought about tumbling classes, but I'm not sure he's old enough to understand what would be going on there lol. "mom... MOOOOM.... wtf are those people doing?!"

We got my son an art easel with paints, magnets and chalk he loves it :)
We use to keep it out side but now its in his bedroom.
He got a smart trike for his first birthday and it was one of the best things i had ever brought.

The only things my son plays with have wheels on them. So we got him a strider bike (no pedal) and a new helmet for his birthday. He loves it and every time he goes near the bike he says "No helmet, no bike" That's my boy lol.

For Christmas (3 months before my son turned 2) I got him a little bike (looks like a real one w/ training wheels, but the trainers aren't removeable) and a toddler sized guitar. Books and trucks are usually good. The toddler 'tumbling class' that I had experience w/ would be perfect for 2 year olds (pretty much just free play on the equipment and a little 'circle time'), but I don't know what the class would be like where you are. Big legos are good if he doesn't have any. I ditto the tool bench too. :)

My parents found a Little Tykes Cozy Coupe at a junk shop for my daughter. She LOVES it!

Except hers doesn't have the creepy eyes.

I don't think he's too young for tumbling. My daughter (who will be two on Tuesday) has been enrolled in a Music Together class for a year now and LOVES it! That time we have in music class once a week is so much better than a toy. And she likes to "play class" at home.

I think my mom might get my daughter an annual family zoo pass for her birthday. That's something to think about if you go to the zoo a lot.

A great outdoor toy is the little tykes climbing frame - plastic, easy to put together and small enough to fit indoors as well. It has a slide too.All kids love playhouses or playtents and tunnels. My first sone loved his tool bench around that age and it lasted him for ages.
