My boys took me out for breakfast and bought me a new pair of sunnies , then i was not allowed to lift a finger all day , no nappies , no cleaning , no cooking , no NOTHING !!

Jamie did it all and to top it off Cooper came up to me and gave me the most beautiful cuddle , he then stopped and looked at me and gently stroked my face , i started crying tears of happiness and Cooper said "oh with a real worried look and hugged me even harder " , i said dont worry they are happy tears and he gave me a kiss and ran outside !

Carol, my husband basically said the same thing. "Why do I have to get you a flower? You're not my mom." I mean seriously. I'm HIS daughter's mom. And doesn't he want a his little girl to have a good, no great, no FANTASTIC mom? Then the one day a year that is specifically designed to show appreciation to moms should be at least recognized. I don't expect much. I would die if he spent a lot of money on me for Mother's Day (I do the budget and I'm a tightwad). But a flower, even if picked from the neighbor's yard, would show that he at least thought about it.

Reminds me of our first Valentine's Day as a married couple. He took me out for ice cream then pulled over on the side of the road and picked me some wildflowers. I LOVED it!

Anyway, Jocelyn and Carol, I feel you. Our men love us, but they just don't get it! And Krista that sucks for your mom. =( Could it be that your stepdad has a little pride issue about it? Especially since he sees how your husband treated the day?

Your husbands aren't the only ones. My stepdad refuses on principle to do anything for my mom for Mother's Day, because she's not his mother, nor is she the mother of his kids. He's very kind to her otherwise, but I know that it hurts her that he won't even give her a card.

It was really awkward this weekend, because my husband was really pulling out all the stops for both me AND her for Mother's Day, and I think Mom said something to my stepdad about how she wished he'd do something for her -- I could hear them bickering upstairs.

Frigging men. We do so much for them -- if we want a card and flowers for damn Groundhog Day, they should be right there, roses in hand.

So I am talking to my hubby about it last night. He was apologizing (do any of you find that men do a lot of that?) and I asked him how it is that despite all the commercials on tv, signs in stores, and discussions and planning for the day, he still managed to forget about it until 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Apparently, according to him, he doesn't see me as a mother. He sees me as a wife/lover/friend and it just doesn't occur to him that despite the little child running around our house that I am a mom. When he thinks "mom", he thinks of his mom. Or of some mom on tv. But not of his wife. I don't know. On the one hand, that is kind of a good thing. It is nice that he sees ME rather than just the mother of his child. And on the other hand... seriously? I'm not entirely sure that I buy it. He did remember to go and buy a card for me a couple weeks ago that he had stashed at my parents, so clearly it did occur to him at some point. I feel fortunate that he at least came around at some point.

Jocelyn, that really sucks. I'm glad your family bothered to remember you on the day, but your hubby really needs to get it together.

Carol my hubby sucks too. I'm having one of those "omg I hate my husband days". I didn't get to sleep in (even tho I worked the night shift last night) then for breakfast I basically had to beg him to make me waffles, and then I had to clean up the huge mess he made while making said waffles. They weren't even special waffles, no strawberries or anything. No card, no backrub, nada. And then I had to work another night shift.
But my dad bought me a rose bush and a three-pronged garden tool thing ^_^ I am going to try to garden, lmao this should be interesting. Oh and my sister got me a hilarious card.

I had to get up at 5am to get ready for work and after I got off work we went to my SIL's for supper. I did get a lovely card from my hubby and son (hubby always writes me a poem) and I got a gift card for the spa.

Happy Mother's Day everyone.

Well, when we were at the nursery yesterday I informed him that since it was Mother's Day the next day I was going to be buying myself the beautiful lavender plant in this lovely stone pot. And I did. Good thing too, because he completely forgot to wish me a happy Mother's Day and acted like a complete jackass all day. He even asked me if I was going to be making pancakes. WTF?!? Umm. NO. I decided that since it was MOTHER'S day, I was going to take Michaela out on my own and enjoy myself. We went to my favorite coffee spot, and picked up a little something for her to give my mom. I went home to pick him up to go to my mom's and he seemed to have figured out why I left the house without saying a word to him. He was rather contrite and had actually picked up a card at some previous time that was already waiting at my parent's place. Right now he has run out to pick up Greek food from my favorite place instead of me cooking the dinner he'd asked for this morning. He's on his way back into my graces....

This isn't really an *official* mother's day for me since I'm still pregnant, lol. But hubby bought me a Starbucks double insulated Venti cup, since I'm constantly getting cold drinks from there and griping about the condensation getting all over me. LOL. Now I don't have to worry about that! Yay! =)

Yesterday we celebrated with our friend who lives next door and had a little cook out. Hubby cooked dinner and we ate with her and her little ones.

And today I've been doing homework and relaxing. =) (Which is what I needed to do, plus I didn't want to be out today... too many people running around everywhere!)

Men are just crap at remembering things like birthdays and anniversarys and mother's day, if you can accept this fact and realise that your going to just have to drum it into them and constantly remind them then life gets a lot easier. With Iain I just point out all the time when we are going round the shops all the signs that say mother's day on them and now the kids are older they know now too so that helps. I drummed my birthday into Iain's head a long time ago and our aniversary is on valentines day so it's easy for him to remember!

Men are from Mars and they obviously don't have special days on there - unlike venus lol!!

Thanks Kati!

Jason is really very sweet and a wonderful husband, and I know he'll make up for it when he's off work. He just lives in his own little world sometimes. And plus having a sick kid makes the day blah, no matter what day it is.

Eliza's birthday is May 11. I went into labor while eating ice cream after lunch at Jason's mom's house two years ago on Mother's Day. Eliza was born via c-section (breech) at 11:38 pm. So we barely made it!

i'm glad that things are going a little better, i was sure chad was going to forget since i didn't remind him this year, and i was pleasantly surprised. i'm sorry your day isn't going to well.
:( *hugs*

I posted earlier, but my husband kind of made up for it this afternoon. He went to church despite working all night and I stayed home with Eliza who has tonsillitis. When he came home from church he had 2 red carnations (left over from what the church gave the mother's during the service) and apologized and told me that I am the most wonderful mom to his little girl that he could imagine. Made me feel a little better but I'm still kind of in a bad mood about him forgetting. I don't know how many times I have to bring up my birthday or Mother's day in conversation or point it out on the calendar to make him remember.

Then Eliza and I went to eat with Jason's mom, grandmother, sister, aunts, brother and the rest of his family (he stayed home to sleep since he has to go back to work tonight). That was nice.

Now Eliza is resting so hopefully she will be refreshed and feeling good enough to go eat with my mom and family for supper. If not I might talk them into getting take out and coming to my house.

So not the best Mother's Day overall for me.

The BEST Mother's Day that will never be topped is when Eliza was born ON Mother's Day two years ago. =)

Happy Mother's Day to everyone!

I'm working on spring cleaning. ;)

I'll be enjoying the two days after mothers day rather than mothers day. Right now I have an empty house and can actually get something done. tomorrow I can relax with the boyfriend without stepping on toys and struggling to find counter space ;/

It will be a belated mothers day.

OH and the boyfriend is picking up video games and I'll be getting a haircut tomorrow, finally.

My sister said she wanted to do a pregnancy photo shoot with my son and me today. Other than that, I get to do everything I usually do. I'm kinda pissed at my husband, though. He's already asked for Father's Day off next month (because it will be his first father's day as an 'offical family'), but didn't think to ask for today off (because I've already had 2)!!!

This is my first Mother's Day as well, which is lovely. I got to sleep in until 8:30am, which was wonderful. My husband got me a new Swiss Army knife, to replace the one I'd lost. My baby got me a lilac tree (although I think he borrowed the money from his dad.) Then, my husband made me a beautiful brunch of bagels, cream cheese, smoked salmon, yogurt and fruit. And now I'm drinking coffee and reading COM while the baby naps.

nothing. =(

Apparently it's hard to remember when Mother's Day comes around. It's even hard to remember to wake your wife up with a kiss and say, "Happy Mother's Day." Instead I got, "Where are my church socks?" But don't worry. I'll make him feel bad for it later. And he'll make up for it like he did on my birthday. =) But seriously? Why is it my responsibility to tell him when it's my birthday or Mother's Day or Christmas for that matter?

Unfortunately, my son's first basketball game of the season was this morning, so there was not much rest in this house. Only a man could have organised the draw for this weekend!!!

But I did get some new winter PJs (I can now throw out my crappy old ones), and a lovely new winter coat, which I really did need :)

Then hubby cooked dinner for us tonight. Lovely asian chicken omelettes......he did a fantastic job, and for once, even cleaned up after himself in the kitchen.

Now I am just hoping he might iron the kids' school uniforms and cut their lunches for tomorrow.....but I'm not willing to leave it to chance - off to turn the iron on now.

Happy Mother's day! It was my first one today which was very exciting! My husband let me have a long awaited sleep in which was wonderful, he made me breakfast in bed which was lovely, complete with cuddles in bed with my daughter who kept trying to steal my breakfast! I received a new dressing gown and a I love mummy coffee cup.

Mother's day was actually about two months ago here in the UK, it was the last time my mum came to visit which was lovely as it was the first time I had spent mother's day with my own mother for years.
I got home made cards, a plant my youngest daughter had planted at nursery and we went out for lunch at my favourite Italian restaurant. It was totally packed out but the service was still good although we were there for a long time.
I loved it when we went to America because for two years I had mother's day twice because we went after it had been Mother's day here. We went to Outback for steak and they had toys and crafts set up for the kids outside and staff to entertain and look after them which was lovely as it meant I got a real break and could enjoy my meal.
