Hya, my eldest at three months said, 'mum ma' after 4 months but that was because I kept going to her, 'ma ma ma ma ma' - but a month or so later 'da-da' came. With my  youngest it was also 'ma' but  her first type of communication was shaking her head 'no' when she didn't want  to do something. This, too, was around 4 months...but there is no set  time, it really does depend upon development and  environment.
