Getting Diagnosis for my Son who may have Autism is So expensive!

I have a 4.5 year old who is showing big signs of Autism at home and at school his teacher has expressed her concern of the possibilty! Only problem is I don't have Private health cover and the Public system is so slow for something so important! So have been phoning around trying to find a clinical psych and Speech Path. that deal with Autism Assessment but also don't charge ridiculous fees so far I've been to Developmental Paedeatrician and that was $400 for 1st consultation but now have to see these other 2 to get a full assessment put together for diagnosis! Any advise where to go? I live in Perth!

The best place to start would be the Autism Association of Western Australia (Inc); 37 Hay Street
Subiaco WA 6008.

They should be able to give some good advice and point you in the right direction :)
