I am not quite sure if I am or not. Don't really get hot flashes at night time but I know I get them all day long. I've noticed lately my mood swings are horrible and my periods are lasting a little longer (although not heavier) than they usually do and are a little more frequent...Could it be that I am in menopause?? I will be 44 in July...Three kids oldest 18, youngest 10 and not pregnant!!

Hi, I'm 45. I experience the night sweats and occasional hot flash. I had a hysterectomy 3 years ago, so no periods. I'm in a pre-meno. stage. So, far it hasn't been that bad, but my doctor says that everyone is different and symtoms are personal. Both my mother and grandmother had very difficult menopause symptoms so it is possible that mine will worsen with time. Best thing is to hang in there and know that there is support out there for you and you will get through it.

Hey I am 48 years old and on March 9, 2011 had a total hysterectomy. I didn't think it would bother me that much because I had not had a period in a year, but I was terribly wrong. I had a lot of hot flashes, very weak, and severe depression. Harmone replacement pills weren't helping much, but they put in Harmone Pellets and they work much better!! So if you cannot get your menopause symptoms under control find a gyn that does the pellets. They are wonderful!!

I'm 51 and STILL perimenopausal. Lot's of weird physical symptoms and horrible, floody periods when I randomly get them. My biggest problem is mood swings, and it's compounded by having a 9-year-old girl who's moving into early puberty. I find myself yelling "stop yelling at me!!" and feel awful for being so impatient. I'm really sad today because I dropped her off at school in the middle of a yelling match. I really don't know what to do. :^(

hi i'm 44 in april and i've started with the hot flushes. my body's still goes through the motion but i hav'nt had a period for 6 years. i had that microwave abulation treatment done, that's instead of the hysterectomy. In fact my body's doing all kind's who knows. my kid's are 25 and 19. i'm not going to take anything if i can i just want my body to go through what it's supposed to do.
I'm 47 and am perimenopausal. I'm not struggling with the hot-flashes as much as the mood swings. That's not good when I have a very strong-willed 4 year old son! :-) But the medication my doctor put me on has helped alot with that.
Wow, yup... I'm 46, and I've had intermittent issues with hot flashes and crazy mood swings, missing periods ... and a very strong-willed four year old son, too. Not sure I want to go on HRT, as I'm already taking thyroid hormones...

Hi just a quick note on menopause. At the age of 40 I found out that I have been going through it for 3 years already. The only reason I found out was that I went for a pregancy test. Why? because I've missed my period for3 months Nine years later still nothing. I felll into it without notice or warning. It was a suprise

Hi I'm 48 and have the hot flashes only at night so far. But the period thing is driving me crazy. One every 3 months, then it comes every two weeks for a couple months. I will be glad when this is over. And oh yea, the mood swings are terrible.

Take the pregnancy test just to make sure first, ;).
If you are still off the pill, it is 'normal' to only have periods a couple of times a year. Menopause is when you haven't had any periods for more than one (? memory fuzzy here) year.
I thought it was coming, but those flashes only lasted a couple of months, now back in some kind of limbo, a nice one though.
I had a hysterectomy 21 years ago, but I am still going through the hot flashes, and night sweats like crazy, I take the HRT but it doesnt help, some women deal and can deal with these things better than others, I just hate being hot all the time, pregnant, lord honey I wish I could get pregnant, if I still had the pipes it would clean it out, lol. What are you having trouble with the most, the hot flashes?
